I really liked Halloween 6. It is the sequel I watched most, bc it was tv the most. This was the only Halloween movie to scare me. Michael was terrifying AF and so so brutal in this and the mask was awesome. I liked Tommy and having a final guy for a change and I liked Kara. Of course Dr. Loomis was awesome as always. So bittersweet and sad that this is the last time we see Donald Pleasence as Loomis, he is sorely missed. I despise what they did to Jamie. Not to have DH as Jamie was such a slap on the face and watch Jamie die the way she did after how beloved this character was and they treated her like she was nothing and we never got any scenes with Jamie and Tommy or Jamie and Loomis was a travisty. I will never get over what they did to Jamie especially when she was the anchor of the “Thorne trilogy”. Had DH be brought back as Jamie and her character eaither was treated better and died at the end as a hero or survived. It would have made this movie awesome and the trilogy worth it.

Positives: 1) It has the best Halloween season atmosphere 2) George P Wilbour as Myers 3) Opening 15 minutes 4) The kills Negatives, oh boy... 1) Having Myers controlled by a cult completely contradicts him as the Pure Evil entity we saw him as in the Original and Part 2, and the Druid influence is even worse in the Producer's Cut, for those who think that version is better (not for me) 2) The theatrical cut hints that Myers raped Jamie, while the Producer's cut basically just flat out says that he raped her so Michael is "Uncle-Daddy" just no... absolutely disgusting 3) Loomis becoming Michael's new keeper in the Producer's cut is just wrong, makes little to no sense So for those 3 HUGE things I prefer the Theatrical cut, but I think both versions are pretty bad. Huge fan of your videos, keep it up!

He was a bit hesitant to talk about it, but mentioned he had little direction with his role, and no one really knew what was going on. If you live in KC, you've probably run into Paul. Ok, confession; I never grew up with Halloween. I was a Jason/Freddy guy. One night, in my teen-age years, me and a friend went on an all night horror binge. A couple pumpkinheads, prom night 2, and because we had seen everything else, I rented this movie. We threw it on first, then I was treated to a weird intro, but then the lady got the kid, and a shape comes through the steam, grabs a nurse by the face, slams her head on a spike, then admires his work, ever so slightly tilting his head while the epic score on metal guitars. I literally screamed "What the FUCK was I thinking not watching this series?!" I've been a hardcore fan since. 1 kill, 1 new fan. I now own the entire series on several mediums. BTW, Johnny Depp was intro'd by Nightmare on elm street. Sure you know, but just in case.

Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers is my favorite in the franchise aside from the original. Like you said, I think Myers himself is the most brutal he’s ever been here, and he has a very intimidating presence. The Thorn storyline is admittedly very convoluted in the theatrical version, but I really like the atmosphere of the film, overall. And the fact that it was actually shot in the fall greatly attributes to that. It’s definitely a shame the way Jamie’s character is treated, and that Danielle Harris didn’t reprise her role, but I think Paul Rudd does fine as a traumatized Tommy Doyle. Plus, Kara is my favorite final girl in this franchise aside from Laurie.

I do like this movie overall but I'd make some changes: .Keep Jamie alive, show the character some fucking respect, and beg Danielle Harris to return. This character deserves a happy ending. .Use the producer's cut for the most part. However, keep some of the guitars from the theatrical cut in. And since most of the film is tame up till the finale, have the final scenes show Michael unleashed and massacre the cult, showing the fucker is just as evil without their influence. This is Mikey at his most brutal. Keep the ending with Loomis getting the tattoo and Michael walking into the night. It's a great shot. Thorn is dead, Loomis can no longer touch Michael, and Michael is free to do whatever he pleases. Like hunting down his sister in California lol. I know H20 ignores these films but I can dream.
@valeriebreidenstein8362 Жыл бұрын
I agree with you here. It's also my headcanon, that at the end of the PC the curse is broken and Michael is finally free. And it would make sense, that he killed the cult leader at the end, because they were part of the cause for the death of Michael's family. Michael killing the guy in revenge, after being freed of the curse through Tommy's acts, makes a lot of sense and would be a good ending of the Thorn triology. And then having H20 as a follow up is a good idea. And it would makes sense, that Laurie can kill Michael after his invincibility (he got because of the curse) disappeared. It's my head canon now and would give us a good ending of the Halloween franchise.

I watch both versions of this movie. They both have things I really like in them. I guess my favorite cut is the Producers Cut. Just because even though it is so crazy, at least it makes more sense. And I want all those scenes with Loomis in it. Especially since it was his last film. Wish they could have gotten Danielle Harris back but with what they did with her character, maybe we should be glad they didn't.

Great review! I got into the Halloween movies when H5 came out and waiting six years for this one to come out. I believe I was twelve years old when H5 came out. I really enjoy watching this movie to this day, but it's probably mostly nostalgia. I do prefer the producer's cut over the theatrical cut, mainly because it tells the better story. I also like the score more in the P-cut than the T-cut. Donald Pleasence has more scenes in the P-cut which is a huge plus too!

I liked the Producers cut more simply because it answered a lot of unanswered questions from the previous movie and the theatrical cut of this one. But it was still trash. At least the mask was outstanding and gotta say it's the best one in the entire franchise along side the original.

@marcoslaureano55622 жыл бұрын
A lot of people don't know but that whole "Myers being cursed by a druid cult" - that was taken right from the Halloween 1978 NOVEL (which is actually somewhere here on KZbin in audiobook form). And the whole druid cult thing was always in the background since part 2 and the SAMHAIN (pronounced sah-win) scene in the school. It was a huge part of the plot of 3 as well. It's actually kind of weird that it;s always been there and really no one talks about that. Like the Cult of Thorn and Silver Shamrock HAVE to be connected in some way. Would love to see someone re-explore that angle in a Season of the Witch-like standalone Halloween movie. Or SHOW. Because now that streaming is so huge - that whole Halloween Anthology idea that carpenter had could be pulled off beautifully - especially with the budgets many of these shows have.

When I saw this when I was younger I just assumed the cult didn’t really control him as much as make sure he was able to fulfill his role ( killing his whole family). Basically just hanging around and making sure nothing got in his way. Like the Gypsies hanging around in Buffy to make sure Angel doesn’t achieve that moment of perfect happiness, just while also keeping in eye out for the next in line to kill their family. The producers cut proves this wrong, but that’s my head canon lol

Wilbur shortly after the release of this movie and asked him about the absolute mess of the ending it had, and he indicated that Donald Pleasence's death kind of threw everybody for a loop and they just sort of quickly threw together an ending so it could be released in time. A lot of things are wrong with H6, but Paul Rudd's acting was never something that bothered me. But unlike most people who complain about his performance, I saw this in 1995 when he was unknown, and had no expectations. It seems like people who know him from his comedies think it's a really odd performance. But I thought he did ok. The acting in this movie was actually pretty good. And Michael, though still way too big, was a step up from 4 or 5. It was the writing and directing that fucked it all up.

Thorn is referred to an ancient, dark, supernatural demon that bestows great power upon someone who was possessed by it, dating back to the time of the Druids.

I'd say the absolutely worst line delivered by Paul Rudd, in H6 is "No there had to be someone else who knew?"

Great review Cody. I’m so glad I’m not the only one who thinks Rudd was terrible in this movie :)

My second fav Halloween , the theatrical cut over the producers cut. I loved loomis on screen in the p cut but nobody controls Michael. And in the T cut he showed about 20 thorn members in strobelights what Michael is all about. He's so brutal and scary in this one. The mask is perfect the kills are the best. It might be a mess but it's still amazing . Michael is so unforgiving and brutal, and the atmosphere is amazing . I actually watch this Halloween more then any Halloween even though 1978 Halloween is the best. Such an underatted movie and hated on or loved it's split in the community. But seriously it's better then h2 which is a close 3rd place. H6 is a beast especially cleaning up the mess h5 left us with..

Curse is a weird movie. It's not exactly great on a whole, but it's kind of fun to watch and has some great moments as Cody says. Jamie's death is great (Should have been Danielle Harris of course), most of the hospital stuff is good, Donald gives a great performance again, the look of the movie is good, Myers looks cool for the most part, and some of the other kills are quite inventive. I also enjoy the scenes with Loomis and Wynn as it's fun to see old pals still working together/against one another, and the stuff with Jamie calling the radio station while Loomis and Tommy listen was a clever touch. I'd rate it a 6.5/10 and find it FAR more enjoyable than H20 and Resurrection.

I thought Rudd did a great job in this, he does a grown traumatized Tommy really well thought his nervous twitches added alot to him.

According to the last interview I saw with Danielle Harris about this she had herself emancipated from her parents so she can make her own decisions and be a part of this movie all she was asking for as far as salary was enough to cover the emancipation I'm not understanding why they couldn't get that to her it was only $5,000
