The first Halloween was a thorough masterpiece and one of the creepiest horrors ever. The music and sounds are very effective and no matter what age, I'll always be looking over my shoulder after watching Halloween at night, in the dark. It's the perfect horror film.
@emilygriffin50778 жыл бұрын
I 100% agree with you. It's (to me) the greatest horror film. The remakes really disappoint me because it's strays too far from the original movie.. Also love Leather Face.

In my opinion i wish that the remakes where sequels to the original halloween movies instead of stupid remakes by rob zombie.

I seen the movies, both Halloween 1 and 2 during the dawn of cable TV at the totally inappropriate age of 9 years old. They gave me very bad nightmares, even today.... at 42 years old I will have a Michael Myer nightmare twice a year or so. No other horror film effected me this way and I have seen them all.

I remember my cousin and I begging my uncle to take us to Halloween II when it came out in 1981, I was seven and he bought us both tickets, he and my other cousin went to time bandits and we got the shit scared out of us, for years as a kid I had Myers dreams, I'm 40 now and still once in a while I have them. It's crazy as an adult I still get those dreams, but it goes to show how scary those movies are. Still love the franchise, just don't really care for the last two, hopefully they make a good new one to make up for those ones.

I am with you on that Matt, just could not capture the feel of the originals. Time Bandits.... ahhh man.... there is a classic. Be careful.... that is pure concentrated evil...LOL

Michael Myers had no lines ... all he had to do was power walk and breathe to be frightening. It worked like a charm!! The actor, when Michael's face is revealed, was Tony Moran ... the older brother of Erin Moran, who played Joanie Cunningham on the 70's television sitcom Happy Days.
@the60sKid9 жыл бұрын
Yes but Director Nick Castle of The Last Starfighter fame was Michael Myers throughout the rest of the film.
@Crystasorrow9 жыл бұрын
***** That was the whole concept...they wanted someone who had a young and pretty good looking face so that when the viewer saw his face under the mask, they would wonder how such a good looking guy was evil like he was
@BacknMetro6 жыл бұрын
Not to mention, the young boy Michael was cute and angelic looking too.

I was 6 when this came out and saw it at the movies (my father was the manager and my mom was concessionaire worker) we were living in Germany at the time. It was hands down the scariest movie ever and often gave me nightmares.. up till today (I'm 43) nothing I've ever seen compares to it, and the crazy thing is there was no blood or gore... it was just genuinely SCARY!

Donald Pleasence really SOLD you on the evil and menace of Michael Myers. This film is a masterpiece on so many levels. It will never be replicated, Just like Hitchcock's PSYCHO.

truth monger yeah. It's not scary without it. In the documentary, someone said that some audience members had to cover their ears. It was too scary to watch otherwise.

I'm from the Midwest and Fall is my absolute favorite time of year. So, it is a nod to a great director and producer that I have watched that movie many times over the past 30 years and it was not until 10 years ago or so that I realized that all of the trees are green! (With the exception of the old brown leaves fluttering down in front of the actors). When a movie's suspense draws you into the characters and plot and you don't notice very obvious discrepancies...well, that's talent.

I use to have that model of Michael Myers that's behind Moustapha Akkad. It was a model kit that needed to be assembled and painted, and if memory serves me right, it was 3 pieces to assemble: the upper torso which was the raised right arm, the left arm, and the legs. And the additional piece was the Jack-O-Lantern.

I remember when it first came out...scary as hell!! Now you can watch it like it's nothing but back in 1978 there was nothing like it. The only horror movie where people talked about it for weeks. It did something too you. Finally, someone who came along and kicked horror straight in it's ASS!! John Carpenter actually got it right!! Before Michael Myers there were vampires(Dracula), mummies, Frankenstein, the werewolf, ghost, and the devil as the main killers except for Psycho(1960). He is the first icon killer. Jason and Freddy Krueger along with others come after. It's still the all time classic and my favorite horror movie!

Think about it, all the low budget horrors of the late 70's and early 80's were a hit - Halloween, Nightmare on Elm Street, Friday The 13th -- And they weren't successful because they were big budget Hollywood diamonds, they were popular because the director worked hard and pushed a dream into reality! Hollywood need to rethink how they make films these days, take from the past (not remakes and reboots) and use that to inspire our on screen art without diluting it into a film full of crappy CGI effects. The film industry needs to go back to basics.
