I'm so confused on this. Most of the skulls are only available on legendary? I collected one on normal but the achievements didn't pop. Every other half skulls can be found on any difficulty from what I cN remember

I know everyone hates the jackal alley from Halo 2, but once I found the route you take to IWHBYD in the original game, that entire section became pretty trivial.

One of the easiest missions ever. I usually play it to clear the weekly challenges that ask for Legendary clears. Rooftops -> Ghost ride and done.

(04/08/20) - Finally!!!! Several years later and I've finally got my IWHBYD skull a couple minutes ago... It feels great! 😀 I encourage you all to follow this guide however, be patient and wait for the check points to show up. Ahh brings back nice memories, My absolute favourite were the Mythic and Thunderstorm skulls, not for myself but for the elites that would join me on the Arbiters mission. Once spawned (with a checkpoint) a quick game reset will ensure any enemies would revert back to their normal states while your team will still be the highest class with double health and double shields!! I found it so satisfying standing back and watching 3-4 OP white Elites ripping the waves of enemies apart. I think in one level I had 6 white elites till the end of the level.

Oh that what the first skull does - I remember getting it and not knowing the effect. All these years and I finally got the answer lol. And the Assassin skull, found that one on normal difficulty, by accident.

I'm having a Mandela effect. I thought that there was one where you needed a ghost on "destroy the covenant on the shoreline". And you used it to go into the water along the boundary, then once you started sinking and couldn't see yourself, you got off the ghost and held x and it appeared.

Just wanna point out that you said the Assassins Skull achievement can be unlocked on any difficulty, which it can't. You can *find* the skull on any difficulty, but as far as i can tell the achievement has to be done on legendary. I got the skull on easy but the achievement didn't pop.

To all those looking for the true solution to the IWHBYD skull. It is an algorithm related to sniper alley. Super simple. Start the level. Wait for the first checkpoint. Melee constantly with acrophobia on. Fly over to the specific corner you see in every video to get the pelican to spawn. Immediately go straight across to the other building and wait for johnson to enter the pelican. DO NOT TRIGGER SNIPER ALLEY. You will know if you see a jackal behind the purple covenant ammo crate. Once you get the checkpoint after Johnson leaves in it, trigger sniper alley, melee while walking, or fly, to the skull room and wait in front of the sniper rifle. Wait a few moments for a checkpoint and the skull will spawn. If you don't get the skull checkpoint, simply revert checkpoint, trigger sniper alley again, and repeat. Took me 10 minutes max. Hope this helps everyone!

4 years later I know. But if you walk into the skull room and no checkpoint it failed. Reload and try again. Sometimes you can strafe around the room and the checkpoint will pop off.

That's bizarre, where did the whole 'getting seven checkpoints' for IWHBYD come from? I wasted hours trying to get it on classic Xbox because every time you switched off the console the skulls would reset - I had profiles set up with checkpoints before each skull but I could never get IWHBYD

Some of these Skulls were a CHORE to get. Especially since you can only get most of them on Legendary difficulty. Damn Jackal Snipers and Banshees. Those things have pissed me off multiple times. Also... Word of advice. Don't use the Plasma Rifle for the Scarab Gun beams. Game always crashed on me when I did.

PSA: There are 2 jackel snipers beside the van below the balcony if you take him out as well as all other jackel snipers shown in the video for the IWHBYD skull it will work almost every time

Seems like you have to restart the level for IWHBYD. Just reloaded from checkpoint 11 times. Trying from beginning now. Tried it on coop as well, but only a handful of times. A few hour later I came back solo and tried the 7 checkpoint method and got it that first try, but could have simply been my luck.

If you're using acrophobia you can skip loading the grunts. Make sure to load everything in and use the banshee to get there

08/28/2024 IWHBYD Skull wasn’t working for me even after following all instructions, I didn’t want to try for three hours so I looked up some other guides and noticed there is one jackal missing in this video, after killing the first jackal walk to the long L shaped roof, jump on the sloped part where it turns and you can get two jackals about halfway along the roof and there’s two jackals near the truck. After doing the rest I finally got the skull.

You may need to go farther in that level. You need to get to the armory. Enter the area after the armory, and then you'll see the platform. The first one right at the beginning doesn't have a platform.

It kinda sucks that on MCC the IWHBYD skull was reduced to merely picking up the skull for the achievement meaning completionists too lazy to do it a real G's way can just put on some modifiers to make it easier and then dip out before they have to fight the Elites. No! That's stupid. It's the skull that you have to face a challenge to get the effects of it in the old game and while I can see why Anniversary would remove the ability for skull abilities to activate on pick up they atleast could've had the achievement come after you fight the Elites. And make it so the achievement can't be earned if other skulls are activated while fighting the gauntlet.
