the banished are a concept that i would love to see explored more but sadly their reasoning to exist doesn't really make sense anymore considering their whole shtick was to defy the covenant which doesn't exist anymore so in infinite they just turned into the covenant 2.0 infinite really needs to flesh out the banished some more or we need prequel Halo games which connect the dots between the games alot better. per example an Arbiter/Thel Vadaam game which focuses on covenant vs Banished and goes more into Atriox and Escharum's backstories than just a halo wars 2 cutscene. just imagine if you played as Thel Vadaam pre-Arbiter and he and Tartarus are hunting down the banished long before the events of Halo 1.

Seriously! To me, the Banished just kinda seem like 'the bad guys' (although I do know the lore). I mean, they're literally red and black colored, two colors commonly used to show 'the bad guys'! The Covenant was amazing as it was an entire religion that was creepy and crackpot conspiracy-like and mysterious. Still love the Banished though, they're very intimidating.

I don't have experience with MGS2 however to speak on why H2 was I C O N I C, just did what a sequel should always do, halo CE was never meant to lead into a franchise of future games but H2 amazingly built what we really now see as the halo universe. Not only was the narrative amazing especially with cool shit like being able to hear mendicant bias speaking backwards during a song, but it was bold and ambitious. Now Halo 2 for many was also a cultural pillar of the 2000's not only did the game ooz what the 2000's were about with it's more metal soundtrack and cheif just being a badass. But it's MP was a staple for people's childhoods having splitscreen FFA's with their freinds overnight.

You know what I love, the title sequence (1:03 - 1:48) given your choice of clips and the ratio you show the 2 protagonists from both franchises, I could tell exactly what you'd be touching on with comparing Raiden & Arbiter directly and how they share simliar circumstances in their franchises. Also Yell Dead Cell over Halo 2 footage makes me nostalgic for the days where I didn't know how people acquired video files or that they were put into a video editor and exported as a new video file - some real 2005/6 vibes. 17:47 How it always goes. 27:01 It already is - and not because of the unexpected resurgence it got over the last few months, ever since 2013... not that I'm as hype for that as I was this.

It’s funny I’d argue that MGS4 is more of the Halo 3 analog than MGS3 is, mainly in that both are about concluding their respective sagas and having both protagonists from the second games teaming up to take down the big bad. Also both end with a fake-out death of the main protag and have a late-game chapter where you return to the setting of the first game.

Since we are comparing games to Halo, does anyone else notice the similarities of the first three Halo games to the first three Gears of War games? The first game in both series were revolutionary for the gaming industry due to their mechanics, story telling etc. The second game improving upon what was built in the first and vastly expanding on the world and story. And then the third and "final" installment improving and perfecting their respective gameplay formula and having a bittersweet story ending.

For the same reason and more, both are my favorite games, and both Arbiter and Raiden are the only true equals to Chief and Solid Snake (and Big boss, although he's the most complex Snake). Also fantastic use of the music. MGS 2 and Bungie Halo trilogy (Infinite did a fine job recreating some and doing good new ones, don't get me wrong!) have also never been beaten in their music either. I really miss the MGS 2 motif. I began with Metal Gear before Halo, so I played MGS 2 first, then Halo, and then both back and forth again, as I grew in maturity, both their stories hit me as profound unlike any other. They are two inspirations of the very beliefs I have today, and I lean very much to Raiden and Arbiter's sides respectively. These two games defined a lot of my beliefs and inspired me growing up. Arbiter taught me to be strong in my convictions, Raiden's Journey taught me to question things, and that freedom along with other things is precious and should be defended. That final Codec call has never been more relevant today. The issues the S3 plan, and the S3 plan itself, have become reality in the evolution of the internet. Except it's not the la-li-lu-le-lo doing the control of information. It's corporations and governments, and certain opposing ideologies. Just as the Codec call said would happen. and the elites, governments and Corporations decided to become the S3 (we even have AI algorithms censoring people on social media, how scarily close is that!?) . Especially in the last 2 years. (Last 10 steadily was pushing towards it). Kojima probably read 1984 before writing MGS 2, He certainly references it in later games. The Arbiter's journey was relatable on a much more personal level with my own personal belief, how I started from one side of a belief system, went to the other side, and then stood on my own two feet in between both. It wasn't a 1 to 1 of course, i'm hardly a Sangheili Commander after all. Or was a religious fanatic. My political beliefs just started on left, went right, now i'm a mix of the two and, as Snake said: "Find something to believe in, and find it for yourself. When you do, pass it on to the future." I see Solidus as one of the best antagonists, because he represents good things, but also became a monster because of the Patriots, but he became a monster that could have been redeemed if he chose another way. Ah, I miss when such storytelling in games was as strong as that. TL:DR: MGS 2 and Halo 2 were deeply personal to me and still are.

At least we do finally know about what Arbiter's doing during the Created Conflict now, new book coming out, and hoping it leads to Arbiter heading to Zeta Halo too

I find it interesting how in today's age Raiden has become more recognizable than Snake. His meme has survived while Snakes hasn't you could say;)

When I was a kid playing metal gear solid 2, I didn't think of how much of a classic it would become. It was just a really good game to play. Halo 2 was a classic before it was even thought of

Not even a minute in and I can say that Metal Gear 2 is by far the better game story wise. The last chapters just leaves you with so much dread and suspense you are on the edge of your seat.

Ok I actually changed the title from ‘Vs.’ To ‘&’ because this wasn’t meant to be a ‘which is better’ video :P If I had to pick which was better I honestly don’t know which one I’d go for, they’re both absolute masterpieces

Halo 2's Arse collapses right at the end with that out of nowhere and jarring Cliffhanger. apart from that it's easily the best written in the series.

@@HiddenXperia haha that's fair enough. I couldn't help but compare them. Although I'd say gameplay wise Halo 2 would win hands down. Each game has their merits and both brilliant. Thanks for the awesome content 👏
