I hang out in the haloruns discord a little bit so I've kept up with this stuff being discovered and your comment seems a lot less far fetched. Monopoli has been able to become a Warthog turret and the Wraith's mortar now and on top of this we've seen stuff like the wraith mortar flying a banshee and ghosts driving ghosts. It's hilarious. One of the more recent things that was found was the scarab's main weapon. Not the handheld plasma rifle scarab gun but an invisible component of the scarab that charges and fires which I guess is a vehicle. At this point Regret's throne is realistically possible.

Actually, canonically grunts are very strong. As an example, Spartans hold a fuel rod gun in two hands, but grunts can hold and fire it in one.

Grunts are stronger than normal humans but Spartans easily put them to shame. I don't know what the explanation for them needing to use one hand and Spartans using two, I would assume that the Spartans use two hands for stability and aiming and the Grunts having to cross that huge weapon across their chest to use two hands would make for some weird animations since they're so small.

Fun fact: The grunt can actually hold up to 4 weapons, 3 weapons able to Dual-Wield(Except SMG) and one heavy weapon/Dual-Wielded weapon you can get the Heavy weapon(Say Rocket Launcer) and the first Dual-Wield(Say, Magnum) weapon by grabbing them normally, and the other 2 weapons by pressing the button to Dual-Wield(while using the Magnum of course), then you should appear to be weapon and hand-less, press the button to switch between your weapons until your hand reappears, do it again, and boom, 4 weapons. You can't take more than 4 weapons tho, and you can only have one heavy weapon, this, because the grunt instead of dual wielding, stores the weapons, but the game seems to believe you ARE Dual-Wielding, so, if you try to swap any of the guns you already have, your 3rd and 4th weapons will fall to the ground.

Had some trouble recreating this so I did some testing and found some solutions for anyone else still having issues; 1: Player 2 MUST be killed by a plasma grenade before the restart, either by Player 1 or themselves. 2: Player 2 MUST be killed by sticking them with a plasma grenade after the restart. (Using the Bandana or Pinata skulls will be required to get plasma grenades) 3: Player 2 CAN NOT MOVE after restarting the level, before they are killed. 4: If it doesn't work the first time, restart the level completely before attempting the setup again. Hope this helps!

That is an interesting insight into halo 2's code. What I imagine is happening is there is a specific tag or pool in the respawn order that the players have (ie: normally player 1 is spawn array[0] and player 2 is spawn array[1]). But when you kill the player and restart without respawning, it messes up that array and allows for things that are not the player model to populate those positions. So when the next available thing enters that slot, the player will respawn as that thing. This would then imply you can technically do this with any character model so long as you can get it to spawn while one of the players is dead. It's also really cool that everything in the game has a controller that accepts inputs as a player character and they're not separate pieces of code.

For the plasma grenade, turn on the bandanna skull. That way you will have unlimited ammo. You will also spawn in with both types of grenades.

I'm going to take a wild guess at what might be going on. I assume the game assigns an ID to the players and NPCs as they spawn in order. Killing your coop and then restarting the level may be generating them a new ID since that ID may not have been cleared in time or is seen as in use before the player is loaded in for whatever reason so they are given the next available ID. After killing your coop again, when the game calls for the ID that is usually given to your coop to spawn in, it has in fact been assigned to the grunt at the doorway since you loaded it in before allowing the respawn to take place. I could be wrong though as I don't have experience with the inner workings of the Blam! engine. It's a really neat trick though.

Does work. Don’t use the bandana skull for the grenades because it may cause other grenades you drop to blow up. Had the best luck just punching player 2 then have him grenade himself while player 1 runs into the pelican to hide (all the way in the back and crouch and walk backwards and player 2 won’t spawn) and stop player 2 from spawning for a few seconds. Restart then I wait for the check point to appear then punch player 2 and have him grenade himself again away from the marines. Player one then melees (to prevent player 2 from spawning) and run to the door way and stand in the doorway and let player 2 spawn, and player 2 should should spawn as a grunt.

It was only found very recently but it works all the way back to the original xbox version. I might do a video in the future explaining why it happens. It's all very technical though and involves a lot of memory stuff under the hood.

Potentially, the issue is finding the way to do it. The further from mission start a possession is, generally the harder it gets to do.

I found this out when I was trying to become the phantom a few days ago on accident you don't have to move back you can just active camo past the grunt and can spawn outside and you have a higher chance of being a different color grunt

So as a question would you consider making race model specific glitch videos? A la here is the easiest grunt spawns 1 or 2 a level Or Elites or even like color specific ones? Idk I feel like then you could one have plenty more potential guide videos to make for this glitch And 2 it would be a good way to break them up based on type and or color rank or gear style. On MCC use the bandanna skull. If you're not on MCC, you can try to use melees instead.

Could you please do a video for all of the possible possessions in Halo 2, or at least the important ones (ie, if we can become a grunt at the beginning of outskirts, we probably don't need a tutorial on how to become one later on in the mission). The locations and setups can be really confusing on these sometimes (like for the hunter possession on the last mission). These glitches are definitely the most fun by far, and the more I can do the better :D
