It's impressive how deep the Halo lore goes. I often wonder whether they thought of all this stuff when developing the first game in a grand plot, or whether they just built up the lore as it went along. Anyways, this is an awesome video. I think every patron of good sci-fi lore should see this video.
@HaloCanon9 жыл бұрын
It's more or less been a mix of both. When Halo CE was created, it was meant to be a stand-alone title. The Halo Bible had little notes and ideas about certain things, and bits of backstory on factions and certain characters, but no grand, planned-out scheme. The plot of the Bungie games was made up as they went along. In 343's era, things were planned out quite a bit in advance, but mostly in the form of a vague outline of key events.

@manchestersboy: Originally, there was just the Didact. He was a Forerunner general, one of the best. At one point, he passed on his memories and knowledge to another Forerunner, Bornstellar. Eventually, the Didact's memories overtook Bornstellar, turning him into a second "Didact". To differentiate, the original Didact was designated Ur-Didact (lit. Original Didact) and the "copy" was designated IsoDidact

@@michaelpapageorgious5053 No, the IsoDidact was a builder forerunner that accidently woke the UrDidact from a cryptum(almost a mummy like state but continued to live in the domain until revived.); once revived the IsoDidact needed to be imprinted as he was coming of age. The UrDidact offered to imprint him which mixed builder and soldier (Promethean) imprints and this imprint eventually turned him into the IsoDidact. The effect was so strong that he considered the librarian his wife and the UrDidacts memories became his dominant memories. But also mentioned that the forerunners were hiding something on Zeta Halo, and they "threw away the key" What was so bad, worse than the flood, that they hid there? and how do "The Endless" come into all this? And what exactly did Atriox do in the end credit scene? Also since the Harbinger is already one of the endless species, are those casket type things with body outlines all over the halo ring filled with endless creatures? Which would make sense as to why the Harbinger was alive because only one of those caskets was opened and she came out. So many questions and things that don't currently make sense, this video did clear a lot up though thank you

I have a question that has been bothering me for a long time. In halo 3 and in the previous halos, it was stated and implied that humans were forerunners. Why are they suddenly not in these new books? Also, why can only humans use activate forerunner technology?
@HaloCanon9 жыл бұрын
Bungie originally intended to have Humans and Forerunners be the same species. This was the case until late in Halo 3's development, when the Terminals came about and established that the two were separate species. 343 took this route and expanded upon it. Humans who have gei can activate Forerunner technology. A geas is imprinted knowledge, imprinted on a genetic level. This is why, in Halo: The Flood, the chief felt the controls to the light bridge felt familiar. A geas is what marks a Human as a Reclaimer. While gei are widespread among Humans, there are some who lack them, as was seen in Spartan Ops episode 9: a marine was being forced to activate a Forerunner structure for some Elites, but couldn't.
@RuddsReels9 жыл бұрын
***** Yes! Exactly What I thought! I thought I was the only one who thought this! It first occured to me when the Brutes wanted Amanda Keys to activate the Halo ring or something else I can't quite remember in Halo 2. When Halo 2 ended I thought I bet there is a twist at the final 3rd game when Humans are decendents to the forerunners! Then at the end of Halo 3, 343 guilty spark says "You are the child of my makers, inheritor of all they left behind. You are Forerunner, but this ring is mine!" I then shouted "I KNEW IT!!" I also realised, that is why he called Chief Reclaimer! I thought it was a ironic clue found throughout the whole trilogy! I then played Halo 4, saw that the Forerunners were alive and that they looked ugly, not how I pictured them! They look more savage then intellectual! Then they have some weak excuse to suddenly kill all humans! They have just turned a mystery race into a genetic "bad guy!" I always said they ended Halo 3 perfectly and that they should end the franchise there! Now it is nothing more than a "been there, done that" cash cow!! Sigh!

my deduction here is that the flood is the final vengance to the forerunners who betrayed their creators pushing them to extinction. They simply returned the favor cleansing in the process all their other creations. It's only left me with 2 guesses : one the precursers turned themselves as the flood or planned to murge with them at some point. Two : They have planned to reset the galaxy with new creations more fitting to new goals, so they will come back.
@daddydavo835710 жыл бұрын
Is it possible that the Precursors actually knew that the Flood was an eventuality of their decision to be turned into the "dust" and that it was just them holding a grudge against the forerunners for the genocide? Also, someone better shed some light on this Primordial!! Hopefully the Reclaimer Trilogy goes into depth about all this...what if Master Chief in the Halo 5 teaser trailer was actually seeking out a fragment of the Forerunner AI? My god.....

I read on the wiki that they didn't want any of their creations beating them. So yes I guess? I Also read that the precursors wanted humanity to have the responsibility of the mantle so I don't know why the flood would target them if the precursors wanted revenge on the forerunners. I'm probably just fucking up the story and what I actually read though. Check it out yourself it will be clearer than what I'm saying.

Why did the forerunners not preserve their own species alongside the rest of the galaxy?
@Jedi_Spartan5 жыл бұрын
Maybe because they saw how fucked the galaxy became under their iron fist.

How did a civilization which is omnipresent and essentially gods get wiped out by their creations especially as a tier 0 race... This doesn't make sense and it seems like the lore is kind of reaching and just wanted to move on...

The Precursors simply let the Forerunners destroy their bodies to prove they are not worthy to hold the Mantle. Remember that the Precursors are transcedant beings beyond the concept of life. If anything what the Precursors destroyed are practically avatars bodies of the Precursors. What's more interesting is how the Flood were secretly helping humanity to ensure they recieve the Mantle and punish the Forerunners.

My question is why did they think that commuting SPEICES WIDE genocide makes them worthy of the Mantle?

3.14 Dragon Are you referring to the Forerunners?

So much hype for the forerunners. Halo 4 fucked it up so bad and killed them off in an instant. Imagine if halo 4 kicked off the battle between the humans and forerunner for next 2 games. Woulda been dope, but no 343 fucked it up

Seeing as how the flood/precursors will eventually return at some point in franchise. I won't be surprised if H5:G builds upon this.

Wow. I didnt realize that the iso didact and a couple other forrunners are still alive.... at least thats what I gathered at the end. So maybe we will see the return of bornstellar makes eternal lasting before the enevitable conclusion of the halo saga.

I think halo was much cooler when forerunners were a long gone mysterious advanced race.

@Halo Canon: This has me really confused about something, maybe you can help. Going back to monitor chakkas losing his human memories as a result of being replaced by 343 guilty spark then why does he remember conversations with who I think was the isodidact when he first detonated the installation 07. Look at the cut scene of Halo: CE Anniversary when chief discovered the purpose the ring at the control center with 343 and cortana. If guilty spark remembers correctly, then based on what he told chief, does that mean chief is the isodidact?

So... 1. Precursors make forerunners. 2. Precursors make humans. 3. Forerunners kill precursors. 4. Precursors become flood. 5. Flood attacks humanity. 6. Forerunners attack humanity. 7. Flood kills forerunners. Done.
