I never heard of a ham pot pie, so, I am anxious to see how this is made. Then you, started making dumplings, and, I thought in a pot pie, I was thinking you got the best of 2 worlds dumplings and pie crust, that must be one heavenly pie, one heavenly pie, I am going to have to try. I love dumplings and, then, with a crispy crust, this for sure will definitely have to be a must try.

I learned a trick about peeling those eggs ..... do just like you did but keep the water running and peel the eggs under the running water. That little bit of force gets under that "skin" and makes them peel super easy! It also keeps them from feeling so hot on your fingers.

Ms. Brenda, you are the "BEST" cook out of all the rest. You're always prepared with your ingredients. You don't hem and ha about what goes next or how a dish comes together. The other women are "not" organized. They are all over the place. It drives me crazy when they stall or can't remember what or how it should work together. You are a blessing to us who can cook. I want to reach through the screen and strangle them lol...I tell them " get it together woman"!!. Thank you for sharing your life and recipes. God bless you and your family 🙏🙏❤️❤️💜💜💖💖

Brenda, first time to watch you on Utube. Congratulations. I so enjoyed the sound effects while you were cooking - from scraping the spoon against the pan while removing the solid fat to breaking the shells on the eggs & swishing them in the water afterwards. I happened to hame a ham bone in the freezer from T'giving. I have polled it out & we will have Ham Pot Pie this wkend for the first time ever ! TY

Hi Brenda. I love watching you cook. You and I are the same age. I live and was raised in Amish country in Pennsylvania. I love ham pot pie too. This is how our ham pot pie looks. Basically the same dumplings but no eggs or peas on ours. All done in the pot on top the stove and we add potatoes, dumplings to the broth.

My grandma was Pa. Dutch, so we use broth to make pot pie. It is so good and lite . Grandma would say don't play with dough because it makes dough tough. We slice potatoes and put in one round of potatoes and one of dough. I put onions in and parsley. Yum.

My late grandmother used to make the best dumplings. She never told anyone except me about how about a month before her passing. It is nothing more than Bisquik, melted European Butter, and dry yeast with half and half. She also taught me on that day her grandmothers infamous mashed potatoes. It too includes the same butter. But in the ancient days it was home churned butter.

@garywilson9640

@@mermiefasmart1387 It has a higher butter fat content. US butter is much lower. I too wondered why until I tried it. European Butter is almost identical to old style home churned butter

Never had dumplings that looked like wide noodles. Up here in the NORTH, My Aunt Hazel made Dumplings that were round. Hers were the fluffiest & lightest anyone could hope for. Guess that would be one of the differences between the North & South when it came to Dumplings. These dumplings were made with a Stewing Hen. The smell was wonderful walking into her house since she cooked that Stewing Hen with Allspice. That's a spice I use often to replicate that beautiful smell.
