Kenwood is losing a lot of business by not supporting the big hamfests.

You hit the nail on the head. Although there is a plan for a TH-D74 replacement, the TH-D75. Kenwood has probably gotten tired of competing with the cheap Chinese radio manufacturers. Can you blame them? Hams have nobody else to blame but themselves for creating this. Why try to sell to cheap hams when they can sell to municipalities and states with endless budgets.
