Hamahiga no Sai | 浜比嘉の釵

Hamahiga no Sai (or 浜比嘉の釵 in Japanese) is a Ryukyu Kobujutsu Sai Kata. The first part of its name - Hamahiga (or 浜比嘉 in Japanese) - refers to an island located in the Yokatsu Islands of Okinawa Prefecture, Japan, near the Katsuren Peninsula, where allegedly the origin of this Sai ( 釵 ) Kata lies. In this video (recorded on 25 March 2024), budoka Johan Oldenkamp, a former national champion from the Netherlands, performs this ‘Sai Kata from the Hamahiga Island’. For more information, go to:
