Thank you so much for posting these videos! Your videos are clear and steady and your explanations are very easy to understand and follow. I really appreciate how you've broken down the menus and features into these short videos - makes it so much easier to follow. Keep up the great work - 5 stars from me!

Thank you Tom! If you’re into home shop machining and watch This Old Tony, you sound exactly the same and have the same speaking mannerisms as he does. I call you the This Old Tony of HAM! I’ve learned so much from you, thank you so very much.

Hi Matt. Thanks for the kind words and for the pointer to Tony's channel. I did check out a couple of his videos. I agree, similar mannerisms, but I think he is funnier than I am (at least in the videos).

I really appreciate these vids. I've been running my 7300 for a month or two now, and I've used many of these features. EVERY video has stuff that I haven't seen. These are great. Thanks!

I don't think my other attempt to post this comment worked, but I'll try again: thanks for putting together this video series! I've owned an IC-7300 for over a year, and I've had my upgrade to general for a few months now. You helped me to learn how to make a lot of adjustments I didn't know about, but wanted to find!

Congratulations on the General!

Thanks for the great explanation of "Center Type Display" - I was confused because on some videos I would see the center point and the SSB audio was only on one side - but on others it would seem to be centered. Many an "Aha!" moment from watching you work through thsse. Great job!

Thank you Tom as always a very informative, well explained presentation. What an invaluable resource your videos are proving to be, 73.

I figured out why one would want to set Max Hold to ON: Band surveys. If you want to know which parts of a band are actually being used over a time interval, set Max Hold ON and let it accumulate. It is particularly useful on the IC-705 for finding active Air Band, VHF, & UHF frequencies. 73 AD9AE.

That's a great use for it! I hadn't thought of that.

At 0:38 where you show time stamp and topics it would be very helpful to have "you" post that in your notes then it is easier to find where in the video certain topics are going to be discussed. 00:46 Touch screen tuning 02:50 Mini Scope+Audio Scope 05:04 Scope Settings 06:27 Max Hold 08:10 Color Settings 10:40 Scope On during Xmit 11:50 Center Point Type 17:10 Marker Position 18:15 Video Bandwidth (VBW) 18:57 Averaging 20:05 Waterfall Settings

Tom, I'd like to add a user defined range to the EDGE choices for the range shown on the spectrum scope. In particular, I'd like to see the entire 10 meter band. Finding out how to do this has become an elusive task. Is there any discussion of this feature in your presentation?
@HamRadioA2Z3 жыл бұрын
Hi Ron. I think I covered programming spectrum scope band edges in part 3 (A to Z #19) of that series. It’s been a while. So I’m not certain. Unfortunately, you can’t get the spectrum scope to show the entire 10 meter band no matter what you do. The largest range it will display is 1Mhz. You would need 1.7 MHz to cover the entire 10 meter band.

@@HamRadioA2Z Thanks - I've been looking at part 3 ever since I asked my question, and learned exactly what you just answered me! I wish I would do these things before I ask questions. I really appreciate this series - thanks very much for all your work.

TNX 4 doing ALL these videos! Had a slight learning curve with Flex 5k & 6600 but this Icom is going to take a bit looonger hi hi. Oh, for the life of me I don't understand why having display in the CENTER of passband is of any benefit ? 73 N8AUM

I think having the audio centered rather than the carrier frequency is just personal preference. I definitely prefer to have the carrier at the center. Then USB vs. LSB is very obvious. Also space between signals is easier to check, at least for me.

So, no changing the color of the waterfall. You can change the color of the waterfall in the Yaesu FT-710.
