Albedo is brought to life by gold aka rihendottir, the star on his neck as his flaw and he knew since the begining. he was given a book to learn alchemy and pursue it just like his master. Reading this book there were only words of wisdom and alchemy, he realised the importance of them. But, at the same time.. Human interaction was inevitable and albedo realised that spoken words can also be complicated and different perceptions can cause misunderstandings so maintaining relationships is difficult for him. Later on, there's a scene where he's staring at a laughing mannequin.. why? Maybe it's related to the lyrics but also maybe because people can often take a genius as a fool because of denial albedo' eyes just turned grey from that point onwards and Sooner or later he has finally deducted that interacting with humans and spending time with them is pointless and a waste of time, with the exception for people of interest like the traveler, sucrose, temiaus, klee and Alice. So maybe the humans represented in the animations are mannequins because albedo can't see the difference between each from his deduction. Albedo's knowledge for alchemy increased, bread is just as valuable as gems anything can be created by alchemy. They all weighted the same on the scale. Alternatively he also found a way to express himself and his arts of alchemy by painting. But turns out that colors can also have different emotions as portrayed by the roses but it was a silent emotion that can just be expressed by a mere look. Albedo has become the judge of himself and decided to perceive the world around him by painting, and so his love for this increased in depth has he colored his world and as he searched for the meaning of life while still being able to brilliantly connect this hobby with alchemy, even better helping him go more in depth. His cecilia slowly bloomed. I think the heartbeats that frequently appear are durin's, he's always still alive watching and absorbing albedo's knowledge, maybe even sending a few clones here and there.. especially after the new event after learning about how albedo's imperfection (star on his neck) was the key all along to actually completely take over. Afterall albedo isn't much of a social interactionist and it's possible for his original self to be completely erased as the clone adapts. At the end albedo is able to depict the life around him with a series of paintings as shown with intricate and detailed colors to each. And finally at the last cut when he turns into a red rose, he doesn't have the star shape on his neck.. .. Overall I think the song is sung by rihendottir as she tries to help albedo find his purpose and help him cope with his flaws. I've tried to edit in more details inspired by them :) So I don't know about you guys but this is a masterpiece from animations to story telling, this really goes into depth into albedo's lore and I'm sure there's more depth to what I tried to dig. A random thought but, I've been reading a book called The Alchemist lately and in the book they use a star that looks similar to the one on Albedo's neck to mark different parts. Maybe thats where Mihoyo got the star from. Edit: I read further and now the book talks about "the moment of birth." I think this increases the chance of Albedo being somewhat related to this book.

holy hell this video has a whole lot of symbolism. i am in awe. i am now going to write an essay analyzing it in excessive detail the start of the video shows albedo's creation. first--red eyes. nigredo, the first step of alchemy. durin. nigredo means blackness, and it is decomposition. so, perhaps this red-eyed albedo is representative of durin, and how first rhinedottir must confront his shadow in order to reach albedo. second--brown eyes. citrinitas, or yellowness. this represents subject two; citrinitas is gold, and therefore "perfect." It's the third step in real-world alchemy, but curiously the second in genshin impact (but that's a theory for another day.) the next part is pretty self-explanatory; it's just rhinedottir passing on her research to albedo. now.. the puppets. puppets can symbolize the invisible sides to humanity, but i believe that, while they do represent that, they also represent perfection here. puppets, like albedo, are manmade--but because they do not have humanity, they are perfect. the interactions he has with the puppet are all about his relationship with perfection; the puppet is his own perfect self, but he chooses to reject it. the white roses that grow on albedo's chair symbolize purity and, for this video, albedo (the alchemy step not the character) mirrors are all about the perception of oneself--and here, it shatters in the direction of the puppet, thus destroying that perception of himself. red roses symbolize a lot of things, but the most fitting here is beauty. beauty is gold, and gold is perfection; thus, it represents both perfection and citrinitas. during his dance with the puppet, they're each surrounded by paintings and painting frames. this represents how they are creations, like albedo's paintings coming to life. him destroying the rose at the end of the dance is, of course, also about his rejection of perfection. the next segment focuses on creation, and albedo's knowledge of khemia. elephants and owls both symbolize wisdom. the bandages coming off of his eyes could symbolize his "enlightenment" (metaphorically opening his eyes), but that much I'm not sure on next is a whole lot of flower symbolism. first, the cecilia, albedo's ascension flower. the basis, perhaps. next, a black rose, symbolizing death. death--durin's death. and, of course, blackness. it's the first step of alchemy, nigredo. second, a red rose. we've seen this plenty already, and it's still just representative of subject two and citrinitas. third, a white rose. purity; whiteness. albedo, and the third step of magnum opus. finally, a blue rose. it symbolizes the unattainable; what is out of reach. rubedo, the final step. next is albedo crafting(?), and behind him appear paintings of black and red roses. this is likely about him using the knowledge of the first two steps of alchemy. or some more durin and subject two symbolism the entire next segment is all just albedo painting and bringing it to life with khemia. more symbolism about paintings meaning creation here, & there's red rose petals falling, but otherwise there's not too much to cover here the section I'm stuck on most is the one where we see the bread on the crafting table being transmuted to gems. this could represent how creation may be wrong, but honestly I'm not so sure then the alchemy goes and reverses itself, which i believe here would just mean destruction. followed by the puppet (who is perfection and therefore also subject two) turning into chalk and then getting eaten by durin then there's a cool fucking image they included of dragonspine where they put half of a heart over it so it looks like an upside down heart. it's yellow so most likely intended to be citrinitas (perhaps showing subject two's presence?) then there's chalk in. something? i genuinely don't fucking know what that is. it. it kind of looks like a hat. I've been staring at this blankly for the past 5 minutes what is that then, more reversed alchemy (it could also represent subject two essentially undoing the steps that had been taken to create albedo by coming back to life. there's a whole lot of ways to interpret this.) then, albedo throws the alchemy notes, passing on his role to subject two to represent how they intend to replace him then subject two is waking up, and then. aw yeah. this segment. a whole ton of paintings in a spiral. they of course are alchemy/creation, and at the end of the spiral is albedo. who is also a creation then there's a big ol segment of subject two flying through a whole lotta shit. time alchemy creation life all that something I've neglected to mention up to this point is the use of color; albedo, save for his birthmark (and sometimes vision), is grayscale. yeah you guessed it I'm saying it's even more symbolism for perfection as well as creation, hence anything marking thst something was created is in color while "perfection" is not. and then subject two lands on the grass unmoving and then turns into a (fairly desaturated) rose. that could be to represent him dying but we actually don't know what happened to subject two at the end of the event but it could well also be supposed to represent he's the only grayscale or "perfect" thing, and the rest is all yknow. life. so becoming a rose could be him accepting imperfection or who knows man. there's a lot of possibilities that is all i can think of. feel free to add or correct anything this is all just my own interpretation of it :-)

Your interpretation is really good, I have a bit of different views with some things, but I can't exactly put them into words. But in the event, albedo explained his story when he said subject one and 2, I assumed subject 1 was Albedo and subject two was the other albedo which isn't durrin. So I assumed that our albedo was the perfection. I can't really tell if the subject 2 your speaking about is albedo or not. And did Durrin die? I really have short term memory don't I?

@@bangbangsomni subject two isn't albedo, you're right there. but to explain, essentially albedo is, in a sense, the "perfect" creation in rhinedottir's eyes--but it's because he's flawed that rhinedottir views him as perfect. subject two wants to be the "perfect" human, but albedo is content with being flawed. this is shown by the star-shaped birthmark on his neck; it is a flaw that shows albedo's homunculor nature, but he keeps it despite this. subject to, however, removes it when imitating him because they want to be perfect. and yeah durin is dead! stormterror killed him a long time ago, and his corpse lays upon dragonspine

I'm not even in the Genshin fandom nor do I play the game, so I have no idea what's going in here. But this animation is so hypnotizing and the choice for the song is so perfect that I keep on repeating the video and can't take my eyes off of it. You're truly an artist! Edit: OK! So, because of your beautiful animatic, I had to get into the game out of curiousity. It's been three days since I played it non-stop, and - oh my god - there's so much more to Genshin than getting a character you like! The world is beatiful; I like getting the missions done; I love exploring the world; and I haven't yet spent a penny, but I still loved the experience! Although, I am planning to spend some money, because the creators have done a great job in building this world. I was very spectical of Genshin at first because I thought that the only purpose of the game is to get the characters you like after spending too much money on the game. This whole video is about Albedo and Durin's struggle with perfection. One tries to avoid it, while the other tries to achieve it. Albedo makes a mistake (tbh I'm not sure if it was intentionally made or really a mistake) in his painting, making it imperfect, but Albedo embraces this mistake happily as he dances and splashes colors everywhere, this joy of being "alive" what makes his flower bloom. On the other hand, in the end we see that fake albedo becomes a petrified rose and clearly dies after falling through a path of golden ratio, a path of perfection. In the quest we saw how durin replicated albedo but without his mark because durin thought it made him "imperfect". Durin tried to achieve perfection and this is exactly what made him fall into his demise.

I like this interpretation! If I may add something I noticed: There’s a flash sequence of both Albedo and Subject Two focusing on the star mark. For Albedo, it’s colored in yellow, and it quickly turns into the Geo symbol. I think this is an indicator of Albedo’s acceptance of imperfection making him worthy in the eyes of the Gods. His star marking is, according to him, a symbol that even Gold’s best creation is not perfect. And he makes no effort to change that. I think it’s also worth noting that, if vision types are in any way related to the Archons, then some similarity or partiality from Zhongli would be implied. How curious that he just so happens to be one of the gods involved in the destruction of Khaenri’ah…. Aaaand I got sidetracked. Anyways… Ironically, Subject Two’s determination to be perfect at all costs leaves him vulnerable to the same mistakes as his mother. He scrubbed away the only thing keeping him from being perfect, and caused his own downfall because of it. Thus, the Gods do not look on him with the same favor.

This, by far, has to be my _favorite_ animatic of all time. I've seen some amazing animatics from many different fandoms, but this has to take the cake. Albedo is one of my comfort characters, for starters, so that makes it even better. Two, the intricacy of tying the song to the creation and story of Albedo is so fantastical and creative. Three, using a realistic rose and other realistic elements with animated artwork looks very appealing to me, it gives me a paper cut-out feel, a collage if you will. I like the way it looks and the meaning behind the song tying to Albedo's story. Oh and this is now my favorite song because I love how it sounds :) You did an amazing job and I've subscribed!! :DD

I just thought about the rose symbolism and I think I’ve somewhat figured it out. So, roses are seen as this perfect flower, everyone knows about them and everyone finds them pretty however, many forget the *one* flaw that roses have and that’s their thorns. It’s not a make or break deal with a rose, they can always be torn off, however, the thorns hurt. The rose can symbolize both albedo and his brother/the failed experiment. The rose in itself is an obvious nod to Albedo having the one prominent flaw or imperfection and that’s the star on his neck. Yet Albedo does not want to remove the star as it shows that he does have a level of human in him. However, many of the roses in the video do not have the thorns, and it’s always near albedo, whether it’s him holding one or him near one (and in some cases, him being represented by the flower) it seems like it signifies that either. A. The failed experiment is always gonna follow Albedo no matter what or B. Which is the more plausible one is that the failed experiment finds himself to have the need of being perfect and that he always seems smaller than albedo. I have more ideas I’m just done with writing for now
