Since I have been here almost three weeks, I wanted to make a video introducing Hamilton, Montana! This 12 minute video shows the distinctive downtown area, with the Bitterroot Mountains in the background. I show a little bit of the commercial and residential areas of the city.
Obviously there is a lot more to show about Hamilton---and since I've been here for 25 years, it is hard to narrow it down! But more videos to come!

It really is! Right now it is still a bit cold and bleak, but hopefully there will be flowers and leaves out soon! I will have a lot more videos of the town coming soon.

There are books in that library about the history of the Bitteroot valley. About twenty years ago, a three book series was publish about the valleys history from the first mission in the valley, located around Stevensville. How could you not mention Marcus Daily! The current court house you showed, was the original Marcus Daily hospital. You can find copy’s in the Victor Historical museum. One of. The original train stations that served early Victor. How long did you say you have around this area? There is a county chamber of Congress in the Safe Way parking lot. BKB.

This video is not a historical documentary of Hamilton, it is what I can see directly. If I was making a historical documentary, I would obviously require chapters on different eras, background information, etc.

Just from comparing downtowns, one would not guess that Corvallis is 11 times larger than Hamilton. Without the OSU students, it is still 7 and a half times larger.

I was actually going to mention that in my video! Hamilton is closer in size to Philomath, but the downtown looks to be almost the size of Corvallis (Oregon). I would probably have to get further into the history to explain why that is.

Sometimes when I make videos about towns, there are things I want to say but that I can't really show. There are a lot of bad things about Hamilton (and a lot of the other small tourist/resort towns that I've made videos about), but I don't know how to say it in a way that fits with the video. So sometimes my videos are just pretty scenery, but don't give a complete story about what life is like in a community.

@@sacredlovetarot1971 One reason I make these videos is to show different sides to a city. And sometimes I will see the differences in opinions in the comments--- one person's paradise is another person's hell. I can say, objectively, Hamilton is a lot different than it was just 10 years ago, and especially 20 years ago, when apartments still went for $500 a month.

Thanks to Covid and the movie Yellowstone, Hamilton isn't what it used to be.

Well, the thing about that is... Hamilton has changed, just like anywhere else. It probably looked a lot different before the northside of 93 was developed. And for that matter, it probably looked very different before Highway 93 was built...and different before there was even automobiles...and of course, very different before European settlement...
