It’s because he had to fit into Washington’s shoes. Even though many people were before him he still had to carry on Washington’s progress and well legacy if you think about it. There are probably so many emotions going on inside of him that may be why he’s not crying, well and he can’t really look weak in front of his entire country lol.

I think about the contrast of the selflessness of Washington. He was the first “ruler” to voluntarily walk away for the good of the new nation. With that act, I think that makes him one of the greatest leaders to ever live. Contrast that with now…I think we’ve forgotten that a bit. This song makes me tear up thinking about this simple, but great act. I loved seeing the backup singer have tears in her eyes as well. This is pretty powerful art.
@uncreative5766 Жыл бұрын
Washington was in poor health at the time he stepped down. He was personally worn down by the factions in his Cabinet. At that stage in his life, George was cognizant of the message he'd be sending if he was still President and died in office. He didn't want to give the impression that 'President' was another term for 'King,' so on both a professional and personal level, he was done. Washington passed a year later, so that tells us how in sync he was with both his inherent wisdom and experience.

Say what you want about Obama, but the fact that he's down to Earth enough to be so into Hamilton and able to show Broadway actors the respect they deserve, and even have a little fun with it, shows he has a way of connecting with people instead of hiding behind the veil of corruption and wealth like most other politicians. He's not only a respected leader but a respected man. He's a respectful father and husband. I want to talk to him and know his wisdom. He's a man who just cares so much about his position and the weight that comes with it. He wasn't perfect, no politician is, but a leader is more than their policies, its about respect, its about the kindness of someone you feel that genuinely cares about you and can talk to you like a friend. It's emotional for me because this is the defining moment in American history where we became a true democracy. Not like other countries with fake elections and lifetime presidents. Sometimes when you have a good leader like Obama and you know the next isn't as good it is so hard to say goodbye but it makes us free. It maintains our democracy. It is so crucial to who we are. Washington was far from perfect but he gave us our freedom and when he could have held to power he let it go. For all of us. Just look at the world today to see how rare a person can surrender power when it's theirs for the taking.

I cry Everytime they sing "George Washington's going home" no matter where I am It's just so sad to me. But it makes me feel so proud at the same time, so relieved.

Apollo Enjolras it’s also in the same tune as Thomas Jefferson is coming home - that’s a celebration

I cried in the theater during this song. I cry when I play it at home. The line you cite, if the rest of the song doesn't get you, that line certainly will. Washington trying to console Hamilton reminds me of my father when he was dying. I am beyond grateful that Mr. Miranda made this show. It is brilliant.

Obama was chill, relaxed, cracked jokes, kept calm under preassure and treated all citizens legal or immagrant, colored or white, rich or poor, young and old he treated ys the same and enjoyed and took time not just for his family but also for us showing us all that a little fun never killed anyone and I miss that dearly.

Twin Trickster I miss the good old days when I didn’t have to wonder if we were going to be here in the morning, in one piece. Now CANADA is mad at us! I hope the world knows that Trumps words are his own, and not the sentiment of the entire country.

Twin Trickster too bad he didn’t treat the Bible the same. So yeah he basically disrespected all us Christians

Kat Bell Because Obama was a bomb-ass president. Because no one knows how the next four years are gonna go. Because PoC, members of the LGBTQ+ community, and other minorities are scared for their futures. Because the song was beautiful. Many many reasons

I miss Obama so much. I really felt safe when he was president. I didn't even really care about on going politics because I trusted him. Now I get a stomach ache when I watch the news.

I could care less about politics at this point, we’re fucked either way.

Eternal vigilance is the price of liberty. If we wish to be free, we have a responsibility to remain educated in the politics of our time, to never dismiss the government as an entity that we do not ourselves create through our votes, and to immerse ourselves in the political discourse in a thoughtful and effective manner in order to achieve the most good. Never be tired of politics, for that is how those who would take your rights away from you will convince you to give them away.

Sad Trombone i agree to be honest. this era in time has made everything so bad i don’t think it’s ever gonna get better again.
