fun fact: the ep starts with “it’s 7 am and i’m on a mountain with a view” and it ends with “cause it’s 7 on the dot” which is SO COOL 🤭

listening to the album on a loop was wild. starts with her at 7am, alone, waiting for a husband that never showed. and then it ends with her getting ready to try again and go out with a new guy, and he shows up at 7 on the dot, not a minute later.

Kelsea is truly iconic. She ate him UP in this record. Her call her daddy episode she talked about meeting him at 22 and he was 30. They were engaged within 9 months, married a year later. She told him from day one she wasn’t sure about kids. I truly think he thought she would change her mind in a few years and was wanting her to be a housewife and put her career on the back burner. That man is what I call a grown child man.
@cheryljohnson11868 ай бұрын
Then she should have walked away and not married him. It's a two way street. She was stupid enough to marry a man 8 years older who was ready to settle down when she didn't want to. He was stupid to think she would walk away from her career. It's okay to want to get married and have kids, he's not a man child for wanting that. She's too into herself and wasn't ready for a real marriage.
@maddyhs8 ай бұрын
@@cheryljohnson1186she’s not stupid. She was young and in love. The man she loved proposed to her and she said yes. She has said before she is different from who she was then. It is a two way street. As she said in the song he loved her more at 23 and she loves herself more now. When she was the one planning everything, making sure they saw each other, buying flights so he could come see her. She literally felt alone in their marriage. He’s not a man child for wanting kids, he’s a man child because he got money for the house he didn’t pay for, would let her sleep on the couch and act like everything was fine. Too into herself? As she should! She loves herself and put her happiness first. I highly recommend you watch her “call her daddy” interview. Hear it from her and not articles.
@cheryljohnson11868 ай бұрын
@@maddyhs Celebrities are all too into themselves and that's why most of their marriages fail. It's statistics. She is just as much at fault as he is. Bashing him in her songs over and over just makes her look pathetic. She was there too.

The saddest part is that on her debut album she has the song “Secondhand Smoke” which talks about how she doesn’t want to breathe in the smoke which means to go through a divorce just like her parents😭😭

When this EP dropped, it came out of left field for me and immediately put me in the fetal position. Blindsided still makes me misty every time. Her vocals conveyed the perfect balance of frustration, weariness, heartbreak, and acceptance as she walked us through the collapse of her relationship. It's very special.

Fun fact: the first time this EP came out, my parents were going through a divorce. And then when she re-released, I had just broken up with my boyfriend of five years. This EP means SO much to me and it really showcases Kelsea's talent as a songwriter and her vocal abilities. It makes me so so happy that she keeps getting her flowers for this EP and I was really hoping you'd get around to reviewing it on the channel. There's also a short film that does with the original release and it's SO good. She wrote and directed it herself and I would love to see your reaction to it.❤

oh my gosh, i can’t believe i missed when you did this one?? Kelsea Ballerini is such a gem in country music! also her live vocals sound nearly the exact same!! i have always been a fan of her music and got to hear her live the other week when she was a surprise guest at the kenny chesney charlotte concert and did 3 songs. i’ve been such a big fan of hers since the start, but this EP is truly a masterpiece. she’s a lot like taylor swift in the way that she includes so many details and a lot of her songs connect to specific moments. there were several lines in this version that directly jab at her ex, Morgan Evans, because he released a few songs after their divorce, blaming her. now she’s in a relationship with Chase Stokes and they’re very cute to see together!!
