Hank, just a suggestion to keep from pushing to far and into the back wall is to put a 2x8 in front of the posts that will not allow someone to push to far when putting a pallet on your pallet rack. Just hate to see the back wall get pushed out and damaged.

Sometimes you can raise your lift higher then what you need and tilt the forks down to see the tips, then as you start into the pallet you can bring your lift arms down and curl up at the same time leveling out the forks. Then drive on in. It works really well to get lined up with pallets.

Nice idea. My only add would be to put some additional sheet metal or plywood on the inside of the barn to protect from that whoops moment of pushing the pallet in too far.

Hank, put some lag bolts with a big washer and bolt the rack to that 2x4 threw your metal frame, then no need for them straps, great video!!!🍒👍

Great idea. Love you portable step ladder. You may want to add a couple of vertical 2x4s on the back barn side of the rack to protect the building if you happen to push the pallet in too far. The vertical 2x4s could be attached to your existing horizontal 2x4s. I have trouble seeing the ends of my pallet forks too. Enjoyed.

Lots of good uses for pallet racks like you have but we had to scale up and fab one out of angle iron for holding up bulk oil tanks here all good use to space which is hard to come by lol. I gave up on the whole using pallet forks on tractors a long time ago its basically impossible and tractors were not designed with that in mind
@HamiltonvilleFarm4 жыл бұрын
Yeah I hear ya. I think these will work out just fine 👍 thanks for the comment AJ

I like the rack! It is hard to see the forks on our tractors, but I do like yours over the mahindra ones I bought. Can't see much through the little slots in the top of mine. Going to have to upgrade.

I do like the forks I have. The pallet rack is pretty neat to have.

Great! I got some pallet racks like yours last fall. This is the project on the list for next spring/summer. That will allow me to put my implements under a roof! Not easy moving pallets with a geared tractor, isn't it? Thanks!

Awesome idea! Would it be faster/easier just to put the implement directly on the rack versus on a pallet on the rack?
@HamiltonvilleFarm4 жыл бұрын
I think I will do that as I attach the implement to the tractor. and not have to use the forks to take them on and off with....if that makes sense.

Hank please tell me your anchoring the top to the walls and have them well braced I had put a bunch of them in when I was working in maintenance for shop vac and just dont wanna see you or the mrs. Get hurt with those they are quite dangerous
@HamiltonvilleFarm4 жыл бұрын
We did anchor them 👍
@shaneharrison47754 жыл бұрын
@@HamiltonvilleFarm good I'd hate for you or Gina to get hurt because of them racks see one of my jobs was to keep an eye out for damage from fork trucks which often twist the foot of the sprites and candy cane them half to a third of the way up. Make sure to give the cross sections a few womps with a 3 lb.. hammer to make sure their locked in and be sure the those pins work as they should . I loved working as a maintenance engineer most the time I was 35 40 feet in the air working loved it

@@carpenterguy9719 okay so why f$ am I not to care about someone's safety an ounce of commonsense is worth 10 lbs of cure maybe you always were lucky about sketchy works but my effort was that I know that those racks are dangerous from useing them and from haveing to disassemble them when someone clips one or two legs and compromises the integrity of the unit in warehouses their anchored to the floors dirt floors dont allow for anchoring so the next best thing is anchor to a wall and brace at the roof.
