I wanted a smaller tractor but..... I'm glad after my research I went with the 4540. For one it's based off the old international tractors. For the money, it lifts more than the competition. I need to lift 2500# pallets of salt to maintain parking lots in the winter for my property maintenance company. With rear pallet forks on my three point and a tote full of water for ballest the 4540 has had no issues for 5 years now. The mahindra is a key player in keeping the parking lots clear for Amazon , under armor, FedEx , Apple and many more here in middle Tn. Love this thing. The issue I have with the smaller tractors is who makes them? Some are made by the company selling them but most are rebranded tractors. Takes a lot of research to figure that out. And for the John Deere crowd, the 4540 equivalent is actually a mihinda 4540. Go figure.

Hank a couple of points that needs to be made as you talk about as big as you can afford that needs to be addressed and was not is physical size of the tractor and do you have size limiting issues. I would agree that you want as much tractor as you can afford within the size restrains you have on your property. This may be where you will store your tractor, obstacles you will be routinely working around (perhaps an existing group of trees you need to maneuver through, or gates in existing fences to name a few). A second point would be the current tier 4 issues and what that means and how it affects different size tractors. You mentioned yours is tier 4 engine but not what that entails in Mahindra and in other brands as well as HP related to tier 4. Thanks for the video.

Hamiltonville Farm yes new tractors have lots if extra headaches to content with when trying to decide what meets your needs especially for the compact size category. If you require a large farm tractor then it is a different set of issues. But that tier 4 has caused some people to look at older tractors and some to look at smaller tractors when it does not really fit their needs.

I have a 2017 RK55 shuttle shift and I also have the Mahindra 3016 Hydro I bought the 3016 new in 2013 and I have never had one problem with it I love it with R1 tires my RK has R4 tires and I hate them things the Mahindra will out go the RK55 any day of the week, and I'm one person who will say I wish i would have went smaller and Got a 40-45 HP Mahindra dont get me wrong I like the RK but I really like how the Mahindra is made with all metal body, only time will tell if the RK55 will last that 3016 is very strong for its size, Great Video Hank !!!

Honestly, for most things that I do around here the 4540 would work just fine and even some things that the 3016(?) would be great at doing. Sometimes bigger isn't always better because we've run into situations where the Hesston just won't fit, however, we've also had other situations where we've been very glad to have the large tractor. As you said, it really depends on what you intend to do with it.

Get bigger than smaller. Consider your work area. I have a Mahindra 6110. The cab is nice but limits the areas I can access. I always have to worry about the windows and cab but they are sure nice in the 100 degree Texas summers.

Great video. Bigger is always better. Not always. Sometimes we find our tractor is too big to fit in certain areas. A lot to be said for that mid size tractor. Went over and joined / watched your buddy’s video. Good stuff, nice channel.
