Brilliant ! That V8 Detroit engine fired up immediately. Perfect battery cobbling and that worked very well. Bus-grease-monkey is an expert on these engines as you mentioned. The vicegrip is the correct tool for the throttle. Runaway, block the air intake with a piece of wood.

You can't stop it in another way than blocking the air because it burning oil if you only try to cut the diesel line!

That White tractor was made right here in my home town, Dublin Va.. The Volvo plant has become largest heavy truck assembly plant in the world! White had extreme money problems, GMC got involved and that was a flop. Then Volvo bought the whole shooting match, and now they have Mack trucks. They are in the process of moving Mack assembly plant from Pa. to Dublin Va.!!!! Y'all should come here and see the Volvo plant, it's right here off I-81 @ exit 98, it's a yuge thing to see!!!!

Something cool as well notice the rear mounted accessories on the engine such as the alternator and power steering pump. I'm kind of curious as to why the exhaust pipe was removed from the engine. Detroit's don't make oil they used to leak it. If you're using the vice grips and the throttle linkage is unhooked you're only controlling one side of the motor
@martineastburn3679 Жыл бұрын
Gona start. I see two Stars glowing on the job. Go for it ! Runaway - 3.425 % seems to me! Had my finger in the air and waved it.
@VistaViews2 жыл бұрын
Once it runs away it’s burning the motor oil not the diesel, so you can’t stop it by stopping the fuel. That being said those old Detroits don’t typically reach the ability to runaway unless you are at or near full throttle.

It can run away if one side has a stuck injector unless it has the newer style rack. If it runs away you can’t prevent it with the vice grips.

u gotta use the flap to shut it down
@Romans--bo7br2 жыл бұрын
@@ionracer24...you would be correct in most cases, except there was no emergency shut down (air block-off plate) on this engine, as there is a marine type air filter housing mounted directly onto the roots, leaving no room under the hood to "sandwhich" the shut-down housing between the roots & the filter housing.
