I’m mad he didn’t show my favorite glock besides the G18/G19 and that’s the Glock 26.. So it would be first shown in the video since it’s the smallest and I call it the “Baby Glock” as not only is it perfect for small handbags as I fit it perfectly with other stuff in the bag as well but it can also be extremely well concealed in any pants pocket! And also don’t forget it still packs the same punch as any glock that shoots 9mm ammunition...

UPDATE --- I have since added 2 glocks : G19 G5 and G48 to my carry routine; and which one I carry all depends how I feel that morning...and what my agenda throughout the day is. lol I shoot the G19 a little better than the G48. I really like them both and marvel at the simplicity of the design and the dependability rocks. I throw in an FN FNS9C for kicks. 2 of these are very similar in ergos and the G48 not that much different...but different enough to notice it.

To me it's like this: 26 = light clothing 19L (17 with grip chopped to G19 length) and 30sf = everything else (vehicle and home defense gun, and backup for my on-person ccw) 20 = animal defense gun when I'm hunting, in case a boar charges me. Although I'm considering trading it and getting a 29

My first Glock was the 22.. The full size .40 cal model. I shoot best with it, but ammo can get expensive or hard to find.. in my opinion it has the best weight vs recoil of the lineup. But everyone has different preferences.. thanks for breaking down and comparing some of the Glock models out there. 💯

Key summary: - all calibers come in 3 or 4 frame sizes; standard, compact, subcompact, or long (used for competitive shooting) - model numbers are sequential to design release and have no correlation to size, caliber, or chamber (confirm caliber before buying) - sf means slim but is probably what you’re thinking standard is, x is a super small variant - most folks buy a 9mm (more shots, cheaper bullets, less kick) or .45 (heavy bullets that hit hard, fewer shots, pricey). Other calibers will likely be your 2nd gun, unless you already love another. - no manual safety… pull trigger, gun fires, period. Leave it unchambered or unloaded if kids in house - they are fantastic guns and pretty much all of them cost about $600 in the usa, the x models a little cheaper.
@dailydoseoftuc112 жыл бұрын
X is actually the crossover glocks, i.e 19x and glock 45 is the glock 19 upper/glock 17 lower , 43x is the 43 upper/48 lower , 43x and the 19x/45 are really similar looking just different scaled versions

Very good video and well presented. I have four Glocks (Glock 26, Glock 19, Glock 30S and Glock 36). The Glock 36 is most recent purchased firearm. When the state of Virginia started talking about limiting magazine size to 10 rounds, I purchased the Glock 30S (45 ACP) and started carrying this firearm for six months of the year. During the spring and summer months, I normally carry either the Glock 26 or Glock 19. I shot both the Glock 43 and Glock 43X; however, I did not like the grip size. When I recently picked up and held a Glock 36 at a local gun store, I decided that I liked the single stack Glock 36 very much. Even though this firearm is limited to a magazine holding 6 rounds and one in the chamber, I have no problem with this reduced number of rounds. The Glock 30S holds 10 rounds in the magazine and one in the chamber for a total of 11 rounds and it can also use the larger size magazines for either the Glock 21 or Glock 41 which use a 13 round magazine. Unfortunately, the Glock 36 can only use the magazines designed for it. Both the Glock 30S and Glock 36 fall in size between a Glock 26 (9mm) and the Glock 19 (9mm). I enjoy shooting each of these firearms.

One of the best size comparison video's Ive seen. Can I ask what glove size you wear Hammer? My medium hand was to tall for the 19 (only half my pinky touched) but felt more comfortable with the 19x or 45.. But the diameter of the 19x/45 grips still felt on the large size for me. But I'm looking for a ambidextrous pistol, so that narrows it down quickly.

Are you really ok with a handgun which comes no proper safety at all? There are far better choices than a Glock!
@tjames5252 жыл бұрын
I'm fine without a manual safety but if you are really stuck on it, a Saf-T block is a much better way to go. Prevents any accidents but you can't forget to flip it to fire when you are ready to shoot. Just go for the trigger and you will bump it out. In my opinion, there is not a pistol under 1000 dollars that even compares to the G19. It's all preference though.

@@tullo5564 almost all cops I've talked to carry glock 22s. Because when it comes down to it if they trust their lives to them, then that is a good sign. When I was a new shooter I wanted safety this and safety that and never had one in the chamber. Now, after the riots and looting and crime, I am fine with the glock as is. Just have to not have your finger near the trigger when drawing. Leave it in the holster when not in use. Easy really.

The glock 19 and 23 are the perfect size for my needs. It's the right size for winter and summer carry for were I live. During the summers which can be brutal, with the humidity and heat and can be carried all day comfortably. They have a decent sight radius and comfortable and lightweight for extended carry. Are glocks the only handguns that fit this criteria, nope they are not, would I recommend it for everyone no I would not. Personally the dot sights on handguns are something I personally haven't warned up to yet. And although I use them on my ar15 and ar9 carbines. As well has on my shotguns. I'll stick with Trijicon night sights on my handguns for now. And no I'm not saying they are useless or not needed. It's just a good set of nightsights and a weapons mounted light and laser are what works best for me. Sighted the laser to my Trijicon night sights and basically were the dot is, is were the bullet is going to hit. Now I also have dot scopes on my shotguns. On my Mossberg 590 and 500 and my Remington 870 slug gun. And a Turkish copy of the Remington 1100. The ar9 is my primary home defensive weapon and it has a streamlight protac HLX mounted as well as a dot scope. And my ar15 carbine is set up the same way. It works for me and my needs. I've been debating on adding a ar 40 pistol or carbine and useing Glaser safety rounds for home defense. I'll probably add a glock 17 also and a ar9 pistol with a armbrace also, or a PTR mp5 with a armbrace. Even though it's a dated design. It's a weapon I trained on and instructed with, and in my opinion the best I've ever used. And I've trained with a Thomson before and it was iconic in it's day. But if I had to choose between the two. It would be the mp5 or a ar9 pistol each and everytime.
@90syungin513 жыл бұрын
Do you suggest a certain type of night sights or optic for the Glock 23?
@philipfreeman28633 жыл бұрын
@@90syungin51 I added Trijicon night sights on my glock 19 and my glick23 came with them. And I would suggest adding a streamlight tlr8a also, and takeing a course in the use of weapons lights for use in dark environments. And investment in a good set of electronic earphones. In darkness the ability to enhance your hearing is a definite advantage and will give you a avantsge to only have to use your weapons mounted light from a position of advantage to cover or if necessary engage a armed or dangerous hostile. The two go together quite well. And gives you the avantsge. And 500 lumens from a handgun light in darkness will definitely ruin anyones vision and increase your ability to size up the situation and take the appropriate action. I highly recommend weapons mounted lights for that very reason. But a certain amount of training is necessary for its proper use.

For me, I don't get the point. I run a 19 for my edc because of the size (I personally don't like the handle on the 17) with the 19x the handle prints more. I suppose if the 19 is just a little small in your hand or you aren't using it as a ccw then it doesn't really matter. As a defense weapon though, 15+1 is more than enough to get the job done. I like to show as little as possible. I don't really want some liberal to have a meltdown just because they see a weapon that I legally own and carry.

@@aaronalexander4928 oh yeah I agree with you on that one. I carry a Springfield hellcat for my edc but that 19x is just a nice pistol over all. Fits good in the hand. @aaronalexander49283 жыл бұрын
@@mattyice3219 Not that it is my business but, I would strongly recommend putting an aftermarket trigger on the hellcat. I'm not sure why it wasn't recalled but the trigger has a massive flaw in it if you have any pressure on the side of it. The subcompact or micro pistols are a little small for me. The M&P shield leaves my pinky hanging off it with the standard mag which is why I went with the Glock 19. Still small enough to conceal relatively easily but big enough that I can get a full grip in it. I like the look of the hellcat and I think that Springfield is a good manufacturer and thought about buying it but it just wasn't right for me.

It is unsafe to shoot .357 Sig, case blowout is very likely as it is a bottleneck cartridge. The case is a necked down 10mm and the bullet is basically 9mm .

Hammer Striker I forgot to mention to swapp the 10mm barrel to a 357 Sig barrel.

With the G29 and conversion barrels you can shoot 10mm, .40 S&W, .357 Sig, and theoretically 9mm as well. If you have a G29 you can buy a G30 complete upper as well as a .45 ACP ejector and shoot .45 ACP after switching the 10mm ejector to the .45 variant. If you buy conversion barrels for that G30 upper, you can shoot .45 Super, .450 SMC, and .460 Rowland which are some serious powerhouses! It must be noted that while .40 S&W will physically chamber and fire in a 10mm gun seemingly without any issues, it's not safe to do so. .40 and 10mm headspace on the case mouth. A .40 cartridge is too short in a 10mm chamber to reach the shelf in the chamber that the case mouth presses against for proper headspace. The only thing holding the cartridge in place preventing it from sliding fully into the chamber is the extractor claw and it will break after handling that improper stress for several rounds. You risk case head separation as the bullet stretches the case during firing with no headspace shelf to hold the case mouth in place. Bullets have an excessive amount of free bore that they need to "jump" before coming into contact with the rifling. The bullets will be shaved by the headspace shelf; fouling will build up there and accuracy will be affected. After firing many .40 cartridges in the long chamber, you'll have extraction issues when going back to 10mm until you take the time to really clean the ring of fouling off the chamber wall and clean the fouling build up against the headspace shelf. If you want to shoot .40 to save money at the range, just buy a 10mm to .40 conversion barrel and be safe. It will pay for itself after several boxes of .40 and you'll protect the longevity of the gun and stick barrel.

mannys9130 Fascinating! You do seem to know a great deal about Glocks and ballistics in general. I’m content to shoot the caliber the gun was originally made for. It’s the same with my Sig Sauers: I’ll just shoot 9mm in my medium grip p320 compact. When I wanted a .45, I bought a Sig P220 Legion SAO. I know which is which. Thanks. Interesting reading

@iPac9mm Necking a case shortens it, so it has to start with a longer case. It actually starts with a 10mm case.

Glock 19 is my go to. I've tried the 43 and 43x and 48 just don't like the slim glocks. 17, 19, and 26 are my favorite 9mm glocks. The 29and 20 are my top two 10mm out of any 10mm

These Glock questions have been on my mind, and I’ve never owned one. But in case I ever buy one, I’ve always wondered about the numbering system, and whether there is ANY rhyme or reason. So it’s very helpful to see the line up. I’m thinking 43x to switch off with my P365, but why switch up. I practice with my p365, why should I have to practice with another gun. Why not just buy another 1911 range gun, or S&W 686 range gun? Why would you own so many Glocks unless you’re a professional reviewer, someone sends you the guns for cheap, or you’re a hoarder. Just messing with you. All my best

There's not any rhyme or reason to the model numbers other than the order that they were developed and put into production. Some strings make sense, such as 17/18/19 because the 17 is the first full size model they produced, followed by the full auto variant of it and followed by the compact model released after that. 20/21 are the large frame 10mm and .45 and they're adjacent because it was simple to take the first and convert it into the other. 22/23 and 31/32/33. 26/27. 29/30. 34/35. 37/38/39.

mannys9130 I’m sure there must be a book or two devoted to explaining these nuances in fine detail. Thanks for your insights.
