I was up in Kennedy Meadows during the 4th. Rained on me up there too but I was comfy. Following your sons on the trail always reminds me of the movie Silent Running and the little robots Houie, Douie and Louie... Thanks for sharing.

That must've been a great trip too! It only rained on us once for a couple of hours, give or take. Thankful to have had that rock right there to take shelter under. Thanks for watching!

Wonderful video, I enjoyed this very much! I started all three of my kids, my son Gary, and Chris, and my daughter Adrienne when they were young. And many times they commented that those hikes were the best times they ever had with their dad. I've been all over the San Jaciinto area many times.

Those are great memories to have. So nice that they were so impactful. I'm hoping for the same. Love the San Jacinto area. Hope to get out there this summer. My oldest is in baseball now and the schedule is quite demanding.

Just started hiking with my son, he's 14. I regret not starting wayyyyy earlier! We hit the first section of the PCT this last weekend. What fun! I plan on hiking it thru in 2021. Until then, we have many mountains to climb in San Diego to get ready! Thanks for the videos!

Yes, we are very thankful for the incredible countryside we have to explore and enjoy here in southern California. Thanks for coming along!

Reminds me so much of when my kids were that age and camping became so much more about the trip for them than for me. If I had to hazard a SWAG I would guess that your boys are partially Asian...just like one of my daughters had some of my grandkids. What brought me to this video is I'm retired and considering a section hike of the PCT with my border collie. I will be hammock camping (Warbonnet Ridge Runner w/ Exped Downmat for when I need to go to ground) and going north of CA due to the dog restrictions in CA's parks. Brings back some awesome memories of forays into the hills with the kids. Looks like a great camera from the quality of the shots and the lack of jitter.

Father of the Year award! really enjoying your family hiking videos. Nice vid. blog! Thank you for sharing. (First campsite was really nice. What frame pack are you using?, I'm old school and have fond memories of my big Camptrails frame pack.)

+Gary Bowen Glad you enjoyed the vids! Thank you for the comment! The pack I was using on that trip was a Kelty Super Tioga. It's a great pack especially when bringing along young kids who can't carry all of their own gear. Trouble is it's heavy. If I recall correctly, it's about 7lbs empty. Now that the boys are carrying a little more of their own weight I've been using the ULA Catalyst.
