I've watched yours & Mikes camping videos at least 10 times each. I can actually turn a video on & put my phone back in its case & know what's going on just by listening to it while I'm working. You & Mike are 2 of my 4 favorite you tubers. Still waiting on the review of those trail slippers. Keep up the good work. Can't wait till the next one.

Best vid yet! You guys crack me up...and remind me a lot of myself and my buddy Joe on some of our backpacking trips--good friendship, funny mishaps, etc. Really glad to see Mike has his own channel now, but that means I'll be spending even more time watching KZbin. I've heard lots of good things about Linville Gorge, and have been down that way/through that area twice this year. Now, I'm convinced I need to backpack it and find that spot where you guys camped. These are the kind of vids I live for, so please keep them coming! I haven't had the chance to backpack much at all this year, so I'm living vicariously through guys like you. Thanks!!

Loved your reaction to cloudy gorge overlook! As one of the Gorge rats wrote on the forum, she kicks your tail then gives you an amazing view that keeps you coming back for more. And yes, hammocks feel great at the end of the day! I managed to complete a 28-mile loop there in June with calmer river waters, but each night we crashed hard.

Great video as usual. I went backpacking with my buddy for his bachelor party as well. Didn't cover much ground but it was still fun. I lined the inside of my pack with reflectix and a trash bag and stuffed it with ice packs. We had cold drinks two days in.

I was just out there a couple weeks ago! we climbed up to Tablerock (the ridge through the trees at 6:32), explored some cool rock formations at the Chimneys (handful of miles north of Shortoff, looks like you guys camped just south of there), then we backtracked north to Hawksbill Mt (which I'm pretty sure is the center right peak at 29:50) which had the most amazing 360 views of the gorge and surrounding area. I'd love to spend more time out there the next time I get up to NC. the entire area is just amazing no matter what kind of weather you get. also I love that you guys were able to just push through all the bumps in the road. great attitudes make for a great time no matter what.

You guys are great! Talk about bad luck - I unknowingly entered the Gorge 1 week after a third of it had burned to the ground. It was like walking in a fireplace, literally covered with ashe after 1 day. Had to strip down to cross the river. Then noticed my boots were gone! Fell off my pack and went down stream. Took two hours to find them. Also found a meth lab on the far side. After that the trail disappears, bushwacked for two days to the bridge in the fuckin rain. Oh yeah, love the piece. Finally learned that lesson after 6 hr. stand off with a bear in the cattaloochie divide. If you can't bear the thought of a piece then bring Firecrackers it may save your life!

Great vid, boss. I remember seeing your 46L Hornet in previous videos and thinking "How the heck did he manage to get multiple days worth of gear into such a small bag?" Then I took a good look at what I was carrying, picked up a hammock and underquilt, and realized I could do the same. Hornet was discontinued but I'm doing just fine with the 44L Talon from Osprey. Keep pumping out the videos!
@sintax7710 жыл бұрын
Thanks, man. I think I saw the Talon at EMS the other day. Kind of looks like an improvement / replacement for the hornet right?
@christof70510 жыл бұрын
sintax77 Yeah for sure. They are pretty close in design, but the Talon has an improved suspension I think. More venting in the shoulder straps and hip belt, mesh back panel, etc. But it also comes with a slight weight penalty I think, it's about 10 ounces heavier than the Hornet.
@sintax7710 жыл бұрын
Chris Koski Yeah, I remember seeing the higher weight, but if it makes it more comfortable, the weight may actually be less noticeable. I just picked up a Ribz front pack at 11oz, but my hope is that a better load balance will make up for it, so our total pack weight is pretty much the same.
@wes130210 жыл бұрын
Great video's! I hiked a lot back in the late 80's and then I joined the Marine Corps and spent 4 years of toting mega poundage so really haven't had the urge to put a pack back on. Thanks to your video's I just ordered a osprey pack and more gear to come.
