Nice vid mate, I agree, I think you find with a lot of hobbies you get a lot of gear snobs, and hobby snobs, ''if you're not using this and not doing it like this then you're doing it wrong'' bushcraft and fieldcraft is very varied and personal, depending on the person and climate, part of the world they're in, and the many different reasons for going out in the first place, if you're warm , dry, fed and comfy, and enjoying yourself, you're doing it right. Happy trails.I even felt my vids aren't very good, but I am out enjoying myself and sharing what I do, my way.

Top rate cool and wet camp. Comfortable weather I'd say. Good set up to - inspired by Ash some of it. He's a good man. My dad and Lofty (Wiseman that is) spent a lot of time in the Jungle. Everyone will have their own preference Im sure but for me so far it has to be 'Smidge'. I find it great for mosquitoes etc and even midges. (However the Highland midges will still swarm you and drive you insane.) I've found Smidge to be great for anything I've faced in the UK anyway. Im a genuine bug magnet and tend not to wear shorts when beasties are around but Im Scottish so my legs are always an unattractive pasty blue shade- nobody needs to see that mate.

When you’re using a pillow in your hammock do you have it fully inflated if you do I’d suggest deflating it half way, I did this last night in mine and it didn’t half make a difference in comfort funny enough I had almost the same set up as yours just the Snugpak jungle hammock with the OEX bush pro tarp I just had an underblanket instead of the cocoon tho slept like a baby despite 40mph winds. About the professional wild campers, I can reassure you there is no such thing. A professional is usually someone who has been sponsored by a brand or company because they have been recognised for being good at something. This doesn’t really apply for wild camping as everyone can do it to the same level with the right gear.

I was wondering if anyone has used the Snugpak A frame mesh tent in proper midgey territory? I like going to the Western Highlands and am hoping to use it soon. But Im sure you all know about the midge hell there, even when sensible precautions are taken. I'm from the central Highlands and have never found the midges to be a big deal here- north of Aviemore area. But the West coast is really mental for them in season.Has anyone any experience of the practicality of this tent when dealing with the wee b******s? I avoid real tents if I can especially in summer but haven't been able to enjoy doing that in the Western Highlands in midge season so Im hoping this mesh tent will be a game changer. Cheers

Okay let’s put this right I have used snugpak equipment on long hauls it’s sold as military style but it’s not military quality hence poor quality the Bergen fell apart quite quickley the zips on the stratosphere were cheap and nasty I know use British army surplus and Russian military equipment all tried and tested methods in the field

English Woodsman Lockdown was for the stupid, scared and sick. Those of us who are healthy it need not apply. I did not consent to being a prisoner in my own home. Not that any lockdown kept me in. I was off for day long rides during lockdown. It’s pathetic. I do not social distance either. That’s another fraud. A Coronavirus does not act like a Retrovirus. We are being told lies. It’s all a hoax. As of 1st July people are able to travel freely, some camp sites have reopened. It’s only illegal if you get caught. Be smart.
