Hi Tom! I got this radio a couple of weeks ago and love it. It does a very good job on AM and shortwave but has poor FM reception. I didn`t buy it for FM though so for the price ($22.00) I give it 5 stars for the following reasons... 1. Very good AM reception. 2. Very good shortwave reception. 3. Exceptional battery life due to its true analog circuitry. Even though it`s much smaller than it looks in pictures it sounds pretty darn good but distorts at higher volume. The Tecsun R9012 is one of those radios that makes you think to yourself: "I should get another one of these before they stop making them!"

Dalibor did a very good job doing the review using a very hard language (English) to learn but I understood every word...no problem.I believe that I have watched every video you have made and I look forward to them all b/c it gives me a chance to unwind and relax after some stressful days.I was pretty impressed with what you did for a living...I bet you enjoyed going to work each day.I know I drifted off topic,folks but I was leading up to a question for Tom. Tom,I know you have been retired for awhile now but could you tell us of any TOP SECRET projects we are working on? If the answer is YES...I promise I won't tell a soul about it. :)

Well for ME, I subscribe & hang out for the simple reason I feel like I'm hangin out on the front porch with an old friend having a beer, shooting the you know what and "playin" with radios. Just having a great time, sharing the passion, comparing notes, likes & dislikes, kicking back. I personally never felt the need to like or dislike. I just wouldn't hang around if not havin fun! If I didn't agree I would hope you could convince me. Anyway, feel at HOME here Tom. Hope to hang around a bit lnger God willing:-) Mike

Hi Tom! I got this little Tecsun R-9012 radio off eBay a while ago for about $20 and I must say IT ROCKS!!! I enjoyed the review that your Russian (or Eastern European) reviewer did. I have a Tecsun PL-660 and recently got a Kaito KA600 and I must tell you that this little Tecsun R-9012 beats the pants off them when it comes to reception on all bands!!! Please pass on my Thanks to your friend from overseas that did this great review of the Tecsun R-9012, it was nice and hearing his voice reminded me of the great men and women I used to work with in a little factory who were from Russia, Belarus, Uzbekistan, Kyrgestan, Republic of Georgia, Ukraine, and other former Soviet states. They were a pleasure to work with and I truly miss them.

Thanks again Tom for bringing this review to us. I thought that Dalibor Komaromi's review on the Tecsun R-9012 shortwave radio was a pretty good review. Also, thanks Dalibor for your review. I would like to say that his review using just a cellphone camera was excellent!
@linuxfan117010 жыл бұрын
I totally agree with you Dennis. Dalibor's review with just his cellphone was done extremely well. My pet peeve is people who produce videos on KZbin by holding the camera in one hand and operating the controls (like a radio) with the other causing shaking and out of focus frames. Just put the camera on a tripod or set it down so that the end result is a better produced video. Thanks Tom for sharing Dalibor's review of the Tecsun R-9012 ! Happy New Year to all the shortwave hobbyists !

Thanks for the great video, Dalibor and Tom. My Tecsun PL-880 is working a lot better now that I finished my long wire antenna. I have 300 ft of telephone wire I ran along the perimeter of my wooden privacy fence and up to my radio room. Unbelievable difference as I'm picking up everything at night! Will try some DX later this week to see what I can pickup. Question, if I unplug the antenna after each use do I still need to ground the long wire??
@hamrad8810 жыл бұрын
There are several points of views on this question. I personally do not ground antennas when I disconnect them as they could act as a lighting rod and I insulate it from from any electric devices. Others might say to give it a good ground to prevent it from finding a ground you don't want it to have like a nearby radio. Happy New Year. Tom

Well done Dalibor, it's a pity the radio got a pimple on reassembly but at least the DC jack is operational now...
@VictorVii10 жыл бұрын
Actually jack does not work, it works now with batteries only. This could be fixed but I do not want to invest in this radio anymore, works great anyway. Keep in mind when that DC input get's messed, batteries wont work either. You need to solder that connection on board and jack wont work because it is poorly made and broken.

Hey Tom, What source do you use to see your CHANNEL views? YT stopped giving that stat some time ago, and the stat site I use, Social Blade doesn't include it either. Or is the 84,000 number actual video views? Thanks. Happy New Year!
@hamrad8810 жыл бұрын
KZbin provides that and a ton of other stats. I just checked and the count for the last 60 days is now 84,351. All these stats are still available under their Analytics page for the producers of shows.

This radio's reception is not good for fm band but good in mw and sw.. Is it true? Plz suggest me whether what should i buy between Tecsun R 9012 or Retekess V 115?
@hamrad889 ай бұрын
That is an easy question. The V115 is a much better radio.

really enjoyed this video he did a great job . I ordered one a few days ago. didn't know Tom had a store, whats the name in amazon so I can see if it was your store I purchased through
@hamrad888 жыл бұрын
It's not an actual store it is a store front for Amazon. Anyone can have one and I have one to support the reviews. If yo scroll down (pull down) the description of any of my shows you will see the link.
@sparkdetect8 жыл бұрын
Tom - to support your store do I place an item found in your store in my cart, then delete it (if what I want from Amazon is not featured in your store), then choose other items of my choice?
@hamrad888 жыл бұрын
The link is at the bottom of all my KZbin show descriptions including this one. Thanks
@hamrad888 жыл бұрын
Yes, pick an item from my webpage, click on put in shopping cart, then click on purchase it which should take you to Amazon, then click on No thanks and it should take you back to the main Amazon page where you can buy what you really wanted. I don't know if this still works but it use to. If you decided to do this, please send me an email of what you purchased so I can verify this method still works. Amazon does not show me who purchases items. Note there are no additional cost from Amazon to purchases items this way. My website store is just a link to Amazon. My email address is trrs73@gmail.com. Thanks

I realized from the begining that the man speaking on the video is not Tom. But when the radio was switched to MW and the first station was the Hungarian National Radio with so strong reception I knew that this review must have been made in Hungary or at least in the Carpathian Basin (where Hungary is situated). Then I looked at the name: "Dalibor Komaromi"... Well, "Komáromi" is the family name, a real Hungarian name. "Dalibor" is not in Hungarian, I think it's a mistakenly written Christian name. Probably it shoud be "Gábor" or something like this. But indeed this is a good review of the radio, one of the best I saw untill now about the Tecsun R-9012.
@VictorVii10 жыл бұрын
Well, you got some theory there :) I am from Serbia, and this is indeed my real name. I'm glad that you liked review.
@Hunkiralyfi9 жыл бұрын
Dalibor Komaromi Much percentage of the non-Hungarian population in the Carpathian Basin has Hungarian origin. Because the Carpathian Basin was part of Hungary for more than 1000 years. Now: for more than 90 years the Carpathian Basin was devided into many parts, and parts of the former Hungarian population (living outside of the new Hungarian borders) merged into other nations. But even in this case family names remained Hungarian in many times. But this is not related with radio, of course :-)
@VictorVii9 жыл бұрын
Why is this relevant here?
@Hunkiralyfi9 жыл бұрын
Dalibor Komaromi No, it's not at all, of course :-) Do you use your radio any more?
