Great location mate, in a place like that who needs the contacts. Where was the rest of the family. (M7PLT)

Well, I went operating 3 times. One time they went on a dolphin cruise and I stayed back. This time they were up in the condo.

Ham Radio CQ ha. I don’t hang with Dolphins. When the check comes, their wallet is always in their other flipper.

@@BargainBasementHamRadio Ha thanks for the comments! I'm back home now of course.... but nice views there. The sand is a huge problem, bigger than it seems, but NO MOSQUITOES THERE!!!

I thought based on the intro music that you had made a contact with Dick Dale.

You gotta admit the geek meter is pegging hard for hams who bring radios to the beach. I did the same thing with my KX-2 and MPAS whip in the Dominican Republic. Same thing, the security guys quizzed me quite a lot. By the second day, they just chuckled at me after they saw no harm would come from the radio operator. Heard Kazakhstan on 20m SSB early in the morning
@hamradiocq5 жыл бұрын
Well, I don't think it was security, I think they were just curious, but I can't be sure. They were the beach chair people that asked me what I was doing... and anyway that walked by me.

N9YO far from home. Maybe you shoud put the counterpoise into the water. Salty water is perfect ground.
@hamradiocq5 жыл бұрын
I've heard of that, but the short counterpoise would have gotten my stuff all sandy.

I have used my Buddipole and a mag loop on the same beach. The best result was the Buddipole with my FT-817. I won’t take my Kx2 on the beach. Nice video.

Yeah, that beach has fine sand, like dust. Hard to get off.

Add more radials to your vertical on the beach. (8) would be nice. I generally take an MFJ 10’ whip that collapses to 20” and start on 10 Meters. 10 Meters is the band for QRP.As I speak, propagation is getting better on 10. GL

too funny.. I know you love it when by-standers ask a bunch of questions... lol. "oh, It's like CB, my uncle had a big CB antenna".
@hamradiocq5 жыл бұрын
Ha! yeah, I get annoyed, I did answer questions, a lot of them, and I tried to tell them what they wanted to hear... cuz I know the average attention span of these folks is about 45 seconds and that's about what I gave them.... I wondered with this dude, I said do you want to be on video and he was like NO, and I was like then screw you then.

That Dolphin definitely looked like a Shark to me, maybe that's why the Beach looked deserted😊. If that was here in the UK it would have been packed with people even on a cloudy cold day which is most of the time. Great location for DX,ing with a Vertical 25ft whip with the ocean as a conterpoise.

I definitely was no prepared antenna wise. I'm used to forests not beaches. Yep, the USA has a ton of beaches. Next time I'll bring a coil and a high whip.

Great to see the old videos before the world got hit with the bio-weapon. You are brave bringing that fine elecraft to the salt water. I don't think I could do it.

I donno, but if you want attention, take a ham radio and an antenna to a beach. I don't like attention in public,.

I bet you enjoyed our beautiful Beaches here in Florida man. Nice video. IMHO those kind of tinny antennas only works for receiving or during an opening in some higher bands. A super Cheap telescopic pole 7m long from China (12$) and your efhw on sand you will be contacting the 🌙 for sure. Thank you for the video.73
