To tune a saved channel you select the memory channel, press band button. You should see a small "tun" text flashing on the left corner of the screen, just punch the new frequency in or use arrow keys. At least this is how it works on my FT65E purchased recently. Maybe they updated the firmware or something to make it easier.

What Michal writes will allow you to temporarily tune to a different frequency. To save your edits permanently, you need to follow a couple more steps. After entering your new frequency, press and hold the *v/m button. Then use the up/down arrows to select the number of the channel you want to edit. (It will be flashing on the left side of the screen.) Then press and hold *v/m again to save your edit.

I'm glad to know that I'm not the only ham that uses the -V or -U or just adding the V or U to the suffix of Memory Channel Names in general. Admittedly, I use geo-locations for Memory Channel Names when possible. Here in STL Metro, locations like: BellvV or BellvU for Belleville, IL. Edw-V or Edw-U for Edwardsville, IL. Mary-V or Mary-U for Maryville, IL. AltonV or AltonU for Alton, IL. DtStlV or DtStlU for Downtown St Louis, MO. Clay-V or Clay-U for Clayton, MO. Arnd-V or Arnd-U for Arnold, MO. HighR-V1, HighR-V2, HighR-U1, HighR-U2 for the High Ridge, MO repeaters (6 or more). Etc. It really depends on the total length of the Name permitted for the Name by the individual radio. The FT-65R permits up to 8-letter character names. Making it one of the better ones.

I have one repeater that has UHF input and VHF output, especially tricky - but you can save the VFO result to example P2 if you want. The memories don't support long offsets. Doesn’t appear like a car radio where you just press 8 and you’re on that station. Anyone know?

Sure. I don't have the radio in front of me at the moment but you should be in memory mode to get to 8. Do you know by any chance how to program a repeater channel in memory mode so that it would have split tones? Specifically, DCS on TX and CTCSS on RX. The offset is regular: +5.000 MHz. I know setting the DCS TX tone would normally be sufficient. But there is a strong competing repeater when propagation picks up. Plus, it drives me nuts that I can't figure it out. Is it even possible on this radio? For example, on Wouxuns it's a cinch. Not sure about this one.

Question: how come I cannot input certain channels? I was trying to input 462.347 and it auto inputs 462.350. I’m not a radio guy, so I’m confused.
@HAMRADIODUDE2 ай бұрын
Hello, my best guess is your channel Steps are set to something like 25khz. Meaning, the radio may default to 25khz steps. 462.350, 362.375 etc. I am unsure if the FT65 has a spacing for 462.347 or what would use that, but you can try changing the channel spacing. I don't have the radio anymore, but it is located withing the menus under "STEP". This may work for you: Enter Frequency Mode: Press the V/M key to switch to VFO mode (Frequency mode) if you're not already in it. Access the Menu: Press and hold the F/W key to enter the menu settings. Navigate to the Step Setting: Use the up/down arrow keys to scroll through the menu until you find the "STEP" option. This is where you can adjust the channel step. Select the Step Size: Press PTT or MONI/SCAN to enter the STEP setting. Use the up/down arrow keys to select your desired step size (e.g., 12.5 kHz, 25 kHz, etc.). Confirm and Exit: Press the F/W key again to confirm the selection. Press V/M or PTT to exit the menu. Good luck!

Hello, I no longer have access to the radio. As I recall, they were only for setting the radio to go to Home, the TX Power Level, the Squelch Type, and the Reverse frequency of a repeater. Sorry I cannot be of more help

What if the repeater doesn't list a CTCSS tone?
@HAMRADIODUDE Жыл бұрын
I'd assume they aren't using tones then. Best thing to do is to give it a shot. 73

I don't really remember unfortunately. I gave the radio away, I believe.

I dont know what i do wrong. I can hear the repeater but i can transmit.

If you can hear the repeater but not transmit, you probably have the wrong CTCSS/PL tone in the radio or there is a possibility that you are too far to transmit, but you can still receive. I would need more information. Do you have a PL tone in the radio?

How can I get MURS on radio
@HAMRADIODUDE4 жыл бұрын
I no longer have this radio but found this : "Unlock Transmission Range - MARS/CAP Mod . Party on. Allows you to transmit on non-ham bands like FRS. Expanded Transmit Frequency Range: 137.000 - 174.000 MHz and 420.000 - 470.000 MHz. To Enable the Mod: Turn the radio off. Hold down PTT and the middle-side button (T/Call) while you turn the radio back on. You’ll see “F1 SET.RST”. Then type in 32406665. The radio will reboot itself. Repeat to undo"

I like this radio and use it only to monitor simplex and carry it in an emergency bag - I never transmit because I have nothing to say to anyone.

Yeah, these are Ham Radios. What bands are you trying to use them as walkie talkies on?
