“Fairly regular sized hands” seemed funnily self conscious to me. LOL. Too bad I live in the USA! (And don’t own a hamster yet), or else I would look into ‘em! Maybe when I actually have someone to get it for I’ll look into it. I would like to suggest making a video on Chinese hamsters if you are interested! There seems to be literally NONE on the Internet, especially by a seasoned Pet-Tuber lol. I would love a Chinese hamster in the near future, but can barley find any info about their specific care. Thank you for your time! 🤙🏻

Chinese hamsters have the exact same care as any other hamster ! Large cages and large wheels , 8” at a minimum . But in my experience they love to burrow a lot more than other hamsters so tons of bedding would be best 😊

Have you looked on the hamster hideout forum? It’s a forum you can find on Safari, chrome, google, etc. I know I’ve seen a little bit of info on Chinese hamsters. One thing I can say is that you could ask a Victoria Reachel, she usually responds and has some info. If you have any friends you know who take good care fo a Chinese hamster then try talking to them. Hope I could help!

Thank you for your feedback! I did consider asking Victoria, but I remembered that she stated she has never owned Chinese hamsters specifically and couldn’t properly give out experienced information unfortunately. I have been thinking about looking into the hamster hideout forum. It seems like a place many people have suggested in the hamster community lol.

Awesome box idea. Too bad i am in the United States. Can't justify the cost. Wish we have something like that here. Hamster pets are so under rated here in the states and too many here are uneducated about them. I despise the Katee houses but they are sold EVERYWHERE here. Those stupid cages need to be banned. I have tried to figure out a way to make a DIY cage for my next hamster. I currently have a 40 gallon breeder tank (which is enough space but I want a bigger hamster house). Thought about converting a dresser into a three tier house but need to find one.

Minecraft Ressa A dresser is a good idea and would be cool, but don’t you think a hamster would chew through wood?

I have a general question, the lady at the pet store near me told me if I was making I bin cage then I needed to put a fan to circulate air into the lid? I wondered about a draft and I’ve never seen anyone with a fan. I think the wire allows lots of circulation of air
@KristensCustomNails4 жыл бұрын
What is your opinion?
@toomuchtia4 жыл бұрын
I don’t think you’d need to. I also don’t recommend getting advice from the pet stores as they usually are not very true on their care and facts. They might just be trying to get you off the idea so you buy one of their cages. I don’t think you’d need a fan and like you said, you don’t ever see people with a fan. If you have enough ventilation it should be good, and as long as where you keep your hamster is at a good temperature (I recommend 42-45 on cool for an AC) then it should be ok.
@brianleach47074 жыл бұрын
That seems a bit off. 72 f to 75 f . 45 is a bit cold.
@CactusBerto4 жыл бұрын
In general if you cut almost the whole lid for mesh/hardware cloth then you should have enough circulation if you’re room isn’t airtight and all.
@KristensCustomNails4 жыл бұрын
That’s what I figured, I told the lady at the pet store I was making one because my robo escaped the bars of her small cage, and the lady said it was much safer just make sure you have a fan, but maybe she assumed I was just going to poke little holes in the top or something I’m not sure I thought it was odd because we are in Canada and are experiencing freezing temperatures. I keep the heat on in the bedroom she’s in at 20-25 Celsius, my hamster is much happier in the bin cage by the way, what a difference

Lmfao my hamster has never bothered with forage toys. I've tried pinatas, the pine cone trick, and others, but if she has to work for it, she doesn't care. And she doesn't like peanut butter either. Do I even have a hamster at this point?
@Jayjoy944 жыл бұрын
Jade D Sometimes hammys are not interested to forage when they have too much food. Try to limit the amount of food that you feed out of your hands and or the food bowl. Maybe then your hammy is more interested in the forage toys. Also, not every hammy likes all kinds of forage toys. I had one hammy in the past who was such a diva and wouldn’t touch any toys made out of toiletpaperroles. However if you put the same food in wicker balls or other wooden pieces she was destroying them in a whim 😂
@jaded1614 жыл бұрын
@@Jayjoy94 Well I do limit her food quite a bit and I have no food bowl. She used to have unlimited but now she gets about a teaspoon every other day or so, and her veggies every day.
