Hey guys! So as I said in the video, I actually created this effect completely by accident. I had some random hand lettering which I had scanned in and thrown into photoshop to play around with between projects, just to mess around and experiment really. Then I ended up creating this effect and thought it looked quite cool, and sort of like a gold foil texture on black paper. I then posted the results to Instagram, and a few people asked me how I did it, and I honestly had no idea, so I basically undid everything and noted each step I took to achieve this look, and then created this tutorial for you guys!
I know there will be other ways to achieve this effect, maybe easier and or better ways, but the purpose of this was just to show you how I achieved it. I hope this tutorial helps some of you guys out and enables you to expand your digital capabilities when it comes to lettering!

Is there a way of vectorizing the word and still apply this effect? If I do it on a logo, for exemplo, who needs to be able to fit different sizes... is it still possible or it would pixalate if a print it? sorry about my english anyway! Brazilian here. Thank you! And I have thought about doing that, however, I have hardly any experience with blackletter styles and Im actually not very good at it at all haha. I think once I actually manage to grasp the blackletter style and understand the letterforms properly, I will definitely make a tutorial for it! But as of right now, I really don't know enough about it to try and teach others how to do it haha! Thank you for the suggestion though, I will keep it in mind! ;)

yeah I was wondering whether you'd had any experience with the pilot parallel pens, or even the dip pens to create copperplate/Spencerian.

Yeah i have 2 of the parallel pens, but I don't use them as much as I probably should. Blackletter, copperplate, etc, are all styles I actually really want to be able to achieve. I will definitely starts practicing with these pens more often and look into learning more about the letterforms used in these styles. These are basically the foundations from which lettering evolved, so it's only right that I learn these at some point :D

Thank you, and I have actually been doing quite a lot of work, in fact, I have made probably 2 of my best logotypes, but havn't recorded them because the majority of my viewers dont want to see speed arts anymore, and they're more interested in me making tutorials so they can learn. I will continue to post speed arts, but far less frequently

Joseph Dino I am not sure if I understood. But you just need to use the Type tool (shortcut "t") with a font you like, and resterize the layer. Then the text will become a image, and you could do all the effects on the video.

Joseph Dino There are a lot of fonts that looks similar to it, but you won't have all the variation and flow of the handwriting.
