How refreshing to watch product review that are actually not affiliated, without sponsored/promo code links to buy. And it was an entertaining watch too!

As a previous RC 390 racer, I suggest keeping lots of extra bodywork bolts in your at-track kit. I eventually ended up using rubber grommets as washers on the bolts that more frequently seemed to vibrate out and that pretty much eliminated the bolts from working their way out.

Dave I like the look you have in your head! Good thing we can pause videos! There is a lot to be said about not having to fuss with getting stuff to fit. The kit does look good. Great work and I look forward to seeing the rest of the project!

One of the best rc builds I’ve enjoyed watching . Thank you!!
@kleidtomasse2 жыл бұрын
I’ve purchased from ebay and even alibaba and what I can say about them is the holes aren’t reinforced with carbon fiber/kevlar so its easy to break them even though you use shoulder washers.. also they also aren’t built the same, some sellers mix up pairs of fairings from different year model so they sometimes come uneven or one side being different in shape.. I also had problem mounting the middle bolt in the side fairing and had to bend the bracket to fit.. buying from tyga and some reputable seller solves these problem but it really is up to you if you want to pay for that price.. for me body fitment is part of the fun..

What a fun and relatively straight forward project. By comparison it has taken me five years to transform a BMW R9T Pure into a cafe racer via parts removal and simple bolt on accessories. I was so slow at deciding what I want for the final look. As for colour for your build, Teal Blue goes so well with orange. So I vote Teal Blue with KTM orange pin strips etc.

Orange and black would look great!!

Dave, by comparison, the bike absolutely looks lit in that raw bodywork. Deep Blue is my choice! Good luck and can't wait to see her in full glory.

This video captures the pain of cheap bodywork. If I was Armor Bodies, TYGA, or Graves-Taylor Made, I would use this video to sell quality bodywork. Excellent content as always. Btw, well nuts? No sir. Get some Dzus fasteners. Way more GP. ;)
@CanyonChasers2 жыл бұрын
I've not had the best of luck with Dzus. I have so much affection for well-nuts because the added rubber for damping on the vibrating machines I tend to gravitate towards.
@bcccslc2 жыл бұрын
Well nuts make more sense for a trackday bike where there is really never a rush. For a race bike, dzus fasteners simplify and speed up working on the bike a lot.

Really fun watching you work. The "patience" shots of fitting were funny and very well done. I really don't like the OEM belly pan on my RC. The Tyga looks great.

Autologue design has the best body kit.. it's under 500$ fully painted and has pre drilled holes.

I was thinking about buying the Tyga pan. Which one did you get? I was thinking about getting the belly pan that allows for the exhaust that goes under the engine.
@CanyonChasers2 жыл бұрын
Thats exactly the one we got - and the one that lets you keep the sidestand. I suspect we'll end up with that Tyga full exhaust.

It ended up being less "budget" because I had to spend $300 for a top triple clamp and clipons. But I really do like how it looks.

is using aluminium plate for a bellypan good?
@CanyonChasers3 ай бұрын
It depends. Whats the overall goal? Most bellypans are just to catch oil, unless we are talking about bikes that ride in the dirt, etc. Then it can protect from damage. But thats not normally a concern on track bikes.

Been looking for a new fairing for my '06 Suzuki bandit 1200s for quite some time, headed to woodcraft, only to fing they don't have anything for the bandit 😕😕
@CanyonChasers2 жыл бұрын
Thats a bummer, but if it's close to the right dimensions, you can make almost anything fit. One of my thoughts before buying the RC was to get something like a Vitpilen and then put on retro fairings from Airtech. Make the bike look like it just rolled out of the '60s. I thought that would have been cool!
