The biggest problem i had with my amateurs was fist clenching. They didn't get it when i explained that fist clenching tires out your arm. I am old school and your videos are gold standard old school. Brings back memories. Great tutorial.

This seems like Simple stuff in Theory, but honestly since I’ve Started my Boxing Journey, THIS is actually the most difficult for me LOL I feel pretty Agile when I’m Stepping or Shuffling about, getting angles or whatnot, My Jab could use some Tweaking 😂, Right Hand is pretty good IMO, Decent Left Hook that lands to head or body when I fail to land the other, Head movement is usually an Advantage I have over most of the people I work with,..... But the HAND POSITIONS BRO, omg, For so long is Struggled with the How & When to relax my guard, tighten it, drop the elbow, drop the forearm ETC, my defense is pretty good overall but I’m usually most Vulnerable when switching between Hand Positions for that Split-Second, Thanks for the informative Video$

I like to watch your videos before my staff fitness class. They help me catch my instructor by surprise. I’m curious about how you maintain focus while boxing. Sometimes I land a good shot and I am happy but also distracted. Sometimes contact is made and I panic and it takes a bit of time to reset.

I be damned !! I first heard of the relaxed stance from a fight between a Honduran fighter Teofimo if I got the name right by the way he is American and a Japanese fighter and I thought to myself!! If I can find a video by CA explaining this stance and here it is !! You are God sent man!!!!

Ever since I started watching coach Anthony a year ago my basic knowledge of boxing drwmced and training has improved. It hink cause I trained by myself with my own workout routines. But now there's a couple of times I boxed my brothers for the fun of it, my boxing skills is much better and I know what I'm doing better and more sufficient

glad i found this video. last weekend i was sparring for the first time in a minute. i was using a conventional stance with hands up. basic stance. i was able to land my jab sometimes but id also get countered or hit while it landed. when the second round came around i switched my stance and was using the hand placement you show in this video. i also switched from throwing a regular jab to an up jab and i was landing more often and wasnt getting countered. that was the first time i used that hand placement. it worked so well for me so today i trained that way. feel like im rrally finding myself. i was a but worried tho since my lead hand was low as opposed to what us beginners are taught. but this video is confirmation that im heading toward the right direction. appreciate the content.

He's right, watch Mayweather when he feels like he's in danger or doesn't underestimate his opponent he's in an Orthodox stance. When he has his opponent figured out he's in the philly shell stance.

I like this video, this topic isn't something I really thought about, prior to this video , I'm definitely more traditional in my stance. But coach Anthony makes a lot of sense. It's not for me, but I do like that style of hand placement, and it does make sense. I don't use the phillyshell I have nothing against it ,it's just not for me so I feel the same about this style, but it is brilliant

Great video, really highlights the important of staying relaxed... when you're not relaxed you're tensed up, uncomfortable, and your mobility suffers. Don't believe it check out the top amateurs in the olympics coming up, their bodies and hands are relaxed and ready to react or strike (or feint!) Philly shell is a tool to use in certain situations, a tool to add to the rest of your boxing, not an exclusive style

Right big question coach ?,why are boxing coaches so strict on must fight two hands up,I get teach beginners basics,but what I see is they can’t see punches coming as block there vision with hands up hit themselves face with own hands,become static don’t move feet,when all best boxers break there rules are unorthodox!!!,roy Jones jnr,Prince naseem hamed,Muhammad Ali,sugar Ray Leonard,Floyd mayweather jnr,David Haye,just to name a few don’t fight traditional,
@unclerobertboxing3 жыл бұрын
It depends on your opponent too! When your opponents aren't very ring savvy predictable come straight in for every trap you set are often off-balance poor defensive skills an overall low ring IQ you can get away with unorthodox stance their hands are low shoulder roll.. For example you see Mayweather jr. Doing what he wants against guys like Guerrero Ortiz Hatton Carlos Baltimore even a young Canelo but if he ever had a challenger with the skills of Sugar Ray Leonard or Roberto Duran he could not afford to be so daring and unorthodox cuz when these guys get you on the ropes they are not playing around... you notice when Sugar Ray Leonard fought Tommy Hearns his hands were good and high cuz he was in there with a dangerous puncher and a great boxer
@jamesmiles13283 жыл бұрын
@@unclerobertboxing yeah I get all that,but reality is going to get hit anyway unavoidable,so for me don’t get why coaches so obsessed with both hands up all the time,as you always see them drop there hands anyway after few rounds,just for me blocks your vision,and makes you more lazy don’t use footwork
@LukasP1433 жыл бұрын
Bc coaches are there to drill fundamentals and fundamentally u wanna always have the none punching hand on your chin. Its then your job to develop your own style and u can fight how u want but a coach isnt going to ever suggest u fight with your hands down its not fundamentally correct
@jamesmiles13283 жыл бұрын
@@LukasP143 me personally I fight with one hand to my chin to,have other hand low,but boxing coaches are very old school always say two hands up,but what I’m saying is two hands up teaching beginners for me confuses them they hit themselves in the face block there own vision because can’t see,end up just punching bags,plus fact means got no footwork which means even easier target to constantly hit,having both hands up has never ever worked either still will get hit that’s just a fact,so it isn’t going to protect you anymore then one hand up
@Lovellyoungwolf3 жыл бұрын
I know you're not putting nothing on it but the movement still looks good and deadly. Looking good Coach!
