Yes, wonderful creatures. I hate to think how many are dying in these appalling bushfires across Australia. - Rob

Wait, so a ringtail possom is named because it's tail makes a ring? I am so used to the term ringtail being like racoon tails that I thought I was missing the rings.

you said multi vitamin stuff? what kind of vitamin stuff? please explain because I have the same situation right now. The dogs must've got ahold to a mother possum two nites ago, it was very dark out but I could here little bitty sneezing sounds in several different spots of the yard, ha, it was the strangest thing I ever heard in my life and had no idea what I was hearing. you can only emagin. well I ran inside grabbed a flashlight and ran back out in time to see my dingo dog, yes it's a real dingo, anyway I saw my dingo snatch something up and run with it and when I caught him I saw a tail and little feet so I made him drop it! I got a cloth picked the poor thing up wrapped in a small soft blanket and put in a box. ran back out but the dogs had killed three more, one other was alive but died the next morning. found one more the next day but I think he died of exposure. anyway I need all the help u can give and this was helpfull

OK. Well done on the rescue. this segments was made around 35 years ago, and animal care for marsupials has improved since then. Try to get (from a vet or Dept of Environment or Zoo or online) some stuff marketed as Wambaroo. A biochemist in Adelaide did wonderful work analysing the milk of lots of native animals, and you can get the specific Wombaroo formula for possums, wombats, roos etc. I have used it successfully for all of these. Marsupials don't respond well to antibiotics either (without expert advice) but Wambaroo is the best food to avoid other problems. Cows' milk, for instance, can give them eye troubles as they are lactose intolerant to it. It was all we had to use back then - Rob
