Hand rearing our pet Pheasant 'Chippy'

They are so precious. I have 3 pheasants I hand raised. They are brothers and sister. Their mom didn't take care of them. She's a pet pheasant that has lost numerous chicks. I love my pheasants.

I have a ringneck male named Steve, he lives in an open cage in my room and he can freely roam my room when I'm in there with him, the funny this is that I didn't hand raise him to be friendly, he was an adult before I took him in, as he got injured, and yet he's very sweet, he's still cautious of me but he will jump up onto my bed while I'm there and just sit there with me, but he will move away if I try to pet him, what should I make of this?

I have a chicken that was brought up like this and she loves to steal my dinner from my plate and she sleeps with me you can’t go any where without being chased from one room to the next birds are so wonderful hope you keep yours they are so gorgeous.

Cute. I'm getting pheasant hatching eggs this spring and I was going to either sell, give away, or release all but 2. (They are found here in the wild so releasing wouldn't threaten the ecosystem.) I I wanted to keep a couple. And I would love to walk around the property with them following me. I heard of you get them as eggs and spend a lot of time with them they will be like chickens. (:

Hi guys i need an advice. Yesterday i found an adult (i think) female pheasant infront of our flat. She cant fly and shes missing her back feathers. I would like to keep her and help her bc i think shell not be able to survive since the winter is coming and she cant fly. But the thing is that i dont know ANYTHING about pheasants. We dont even have a voliere she could be in. Rn we have her in a box. I fed her yesterday and today with apple and carrot. Shes so lovely even my mom said she would like to keep her. Oh and one more thing she has some plastic thing in her beak my mom found out that people are giving this to the pheasants so they cant "eat" each other when theyre born. Do you think it could be removed somehow? Thank you for your advices ♡♡♡

@Amel Bougrouz hahah that was funny i was going to ask do they use claws and peck or are they just playing xD They are wonderful creatures and I love how happy they sound when they go "hm! hm! hm! hm!" it's like a bird version of purring and do it often while eating. Some are more skittish than others i'm hoping for a tame one to appear soon

Tommy Vercetti hi I don’t know if this is too late for an answer but if you have a petstore nearby, gamebird starter is probably the best thing to feed them. If not, turkey mix is the next best thing

hi i keep ring neck pheasants as pets his mother would have shown him how to forage fir food and where to find water because you have yand reared him he would die if you let him go if that didnt kill him the October shoot would so please cut his flight feathers and keep him in a run or an shed with a run DO NOT LET HIM GO hes lost all his instincts to find food and avoid danger. P.S. pheasant as solitary animals and like to be on there own they only socialise in breeding season. hope you get this message in time. iv got 4 ring becks raised with a chicken hen they all think they are chickens and as a result live, eat, sleep even breed with my chickens. good luck
