This is my third image from the project Revelations. The project Revelations is dealing with insights that are being washed on the shore of consciousness in the midst of woodland, the stillness of the mind. Expect a book in two years.
Technically everything is handmade, from mixing chemistry for glass plate negatives to coating of paper, developing, processing, down to retouching the negative with graphic pencil and aggressive chemistry. I do buy glass at a glass cutter, but aside these half products, I do everything by hand.
This image of a gorgeous Linden tree is a contact copy from a wet plate collodion negative, printed on glass as a carbon print. These two processes are dating back in 1850’s and beside that they are the most archival processes, they are also the best photography as a medium can offer.
The carbon print is transferred on glass. Carbon print on glass has a very unique characteristic. The image appears almost like 3D, because the image is made by the relief of the pigmented gelatine, meaning the blacks are made by a thick layer of pigmented gelatine and whites are made with thin layer of gelatine. I know many photographic processes and this is my favourite one.
Reference:
I, Borut Peterlin, have devoted all my life to photography and I have a BA degree in Fine Art Photography from Famu, Prague, PostGraduate Diploma at London College of Printing, I was working with Oliviero Toscani at Fabrica / United Colors of Benetton and I was photoeditor and photographer at Mladina weekly magazine for about ten years. In 2001 I’ve started a Fotopub festival and I was an art director for eight years. Most of my knowledge in the 19th Century photography processes originates from workshops with Mark Osterman in George Eastman House, Rochester, USA and I also took color carbon printing workshop with Calvin Grier / The Wet Print. I have great interest in education and although I have many seminars at colleges, I keep myself away from academic waters in favour of my freelancing career. I share my knowledge passionately either through seminars, workshops and also via my KZbin channel.

I happened to be looking away from my screen near the end of the video and heard my name and my brain rebooted. Great photo and awesome prints, I can't wait for whatever the gift ends up being, I'm sure it'll be fantastic, as everything you've sent me over the years has been.

The organic plate is beautiful, dreamy. And the other vision is floral, alive. I like them both, it's another interpretation.

I don't understand what you mean by definitive work. You mean step by step tutorial? I've done that like 12 years ago. Perhaps it's time for another one.

@@BorutPeterlinPhotography I feel you, I just cooked 600 euros away and had a similar experience like you. I really think we should do some kind of live stream sometimes and talk about how to f… things up :) I am the master of that lately - hahaha

Borut : your are indeed a chemist or Alchemists with this art. Very beautiful work , the rooms you have set up are amazing , the " lab " as it were. I am also like you , to seek a one of a kind , though I have not the facility to do so. Very beautiful and eclectic vision you have. 💪🏻

Spark: this: 1. as shown test plugs 2. test wires , replace as SET 3, Rotor Cap / micro cracks in cap / burnt or " crowned " points from age 4. the Distributor / worn shaft and the weights in rotor " springs " worn , my 1983 West Germany MERCEDES petrol had that issue. 5. You do NOT want to go here : Blow By from a combustion chamber fouled with failed " head gasket " .... again do not want to go there .... I have. Keep fighting Borut ; you will win. Fixing " gremlin's " in machines ... it is our thing. A man thing.

Oh, thank you and yes, I don't want to see the interior of the distributor, ha, ha... But people like you and me, we will handle whatever is thrown at us and make it happen.
