Mr. Batty, ASTOUNDING!!! Both the delivery, and photography. I'm saving this video for me, my kids, and my grandkids. Moreover, it is so much over-the-top as to be the standard for all other videos on this subject, or, for that matter, any woodworking subject, because of your thoroughness, and clarity. Your facility around lathes, and wood is underscored by both your humble attitude, and complete knowledge of your subject. Others, if you read "between-the-lines", so to speak, love to be stroked by others; you need no such bolstering; your work has a gravitational attraction to laud and praise.

My hat's off to Allan Batty. An absolute master. I purchased chasing tools years ago and gave up on the process after many failures. You have given me the encouragement to try again. I can see that, although I did some reading in advance, I did not really have a clue-- however, in truth, he makes it look easier than it really is. He has the touch of a master wood turner. Many thanks for a demonstration of skills acquired in a lifetime of craftsmanship.

In a nutshell (sorry, couldn't resist the cheesy pun)... Wow! Allan's videos are, in my opinion, everything a woodworking KZbin viewer could ask for... a masterful woodworker thoroughly describing each step and technique in a true teacher's fashion. The era of free content has left something to be desired for production quality in most cases (usually you get what you pay for). However, this video was very well done, so thank you also Craft Supplies! I thank you Allan and Craft Supplies for your combined efforts and allowing us the pleasure to learn from you.

Extremely helpful video - The added text is critical to our understanding and following the conversation, however the text "box" obscures the critical visual parts of the demonstration. One can more or less fill in what's being done, but being able to see it all would be helpful.

True mastery sirs! This comes from the age where people actually had manual skills. These are nowadays mostly lost and replaced by IT skills - programming machines to do the job instead doing them themselves as master craftsmen did in the past.... Btw how would one do these things without a lathe?
