This is Woodturning. At the age of about twelve i had some lessons from an retired master woodturner and this is what he used to do. This is almost not seen on KZbin. Anyone scrapes weird useless thingies. I like your classical turning in style as well as in craft. Thank You.

Thank you, I was taught by me Grandfather and our family have been woodturners for 300 years so the old classical ways are ingrained.

always amazed by your skill, I swear it doesn't even look like you need to sand anything after that skew! nice work!
@woodturner218 жыл бұрын
Thank you, you hardly need to sand but if you don't when polishing the grain stands up more.

Genius. Hi Steve, I do find your vids mesmerising, You normally do a whole set of Newels and spindles for a staircase in 4 seconds, so when I saw it was 15 mins long I was over the moon. :-) I liked that sizing tool. I have seen this done with spanners, but it looks like you have a few sizes on that one bit of metal? @13:40 you did a fancy cross over move with your left hand. Was that to support the spindle or is there another reason? Looking forward to seeing more of your vids in 2017 Have a great New Year. Cheers Paul
@woodturner218 жыл бұрын
Thanks Paul, yes I have lots of the sizing tools with many sizes on them. You are correct it was to support the spindle.

This is great work sir good to see it in reai time. Question, sanding, the grit, is it 300 and 400? I ask because it seems like you don't need to sand at all after such a masterful use of the skews. Happy new year. Júlíus
@woodturner218 жыл бұрын
Thank You Julius, I normally start at 240 and go to 400

Very imressive! I am returning my skew to the maker. After seeing this, mine is clearly defective.

Nice work Steve. I'm curious, it looks like the base might be to small for the size of the bars . Have you had any problems with it not being very stable ?
@woodturner215 жыл бұрын
I’ve sold a lot and never had any problem
