Excellent design and presentation, reminded me of an early fifties Silverton (AM) radio I used to listen to the baseball games with my Father, and still have to this day - not exact but a general design, brought back a lot of fond memories. As soon as I finish a project for my Wife I'm going to build this as a CD/Radio with (smaller) matching speakers for my shop, thank you for a truly unique design and for sharing it with us.

Bad design actually. The power supply has no air intake, it's choked.. It's going to heat up, untill it burns.

Awesome looking case. One thing I’d consider changing is for the back cover. Look into using threaded inserts and machine screws for attaching it. Looks cleaner, and it’ll be way more durable if/when you have to remove/reattach the panel in the future.

Great stuff. My only concerns would be airflow, as others have mentioned, and electromagnetic interference. If it starts doing weird stuff, you could pretty easily use conductive paint to shield the inside of the cavity.
@babypower95824 жыл бұрын
Is wood bro... No elecromagnetic things will survive on it :)
@jamesgilbert1244 жыл бұрын
@@babypower9582 The wood itself won't do anything to shield the internal components from external EMI, or to shield anything outside from the EMI generated by the computer components themselves. If wood could do that, computer speakers wouldn't need to be shielded.
@babypower95824 жыл бұрын
@@jamesgilbert124 i think we talk about electrostatic? PSU is grounded and all components are linked to PSU case.
@jamesgilbert1244 жыл бұрын
@@babypower9582 Not static so much as stray EM fields caused by anything from mains wiring to solar flares. PSU grounding will help, but most PC cases are metal and act as a Faraday cage, shunting stray current generated by EMI to ground and protecting the contents. He may never have any problems. But especially with the sensitivity of modern computer components it seems *to me* that shielding the cavity would be both easy and prudent.

You should have incorporated some aluminum sheets to the design to dissipate some heat. You really have to monitor your heat build up. But over all it looks great. Great video. Please let us have some follow up dates.

Muy buen trabajo, muy prolijo; pero la ventilación me parece deficiente, ya que es muy cerrada la perforación de la trama del aluminio y la madera no disipa temperatura interna

Amazing looking build. I'm concerned about the PSU orientation though, pulling what it can of air from under an i9 in an ITX can't be good for longevity, and in a wooden case, I'm afraid it might be a fire hazard.

This was beautiful and unexpected. I thought you were making a picnic basket lol. I have one suggestion. Since you went through all the trouble making a compact ITX form factor build, you should add a strap for portability. Something like the handles for guitar amplifiers would be nice. @j.h.45704 жыл бұрын
Nicely made. Next time skip the step with the double sided tape, if you glue the pieces anyways. Make one perfect piece, glue the next one to it (slightly bigger in size) and THEN trim flush. That will also compensate for slight movements of the pieces during glue up. Do that layer by layer. Currently I'm building a different case that way.

@LukeKroeker4 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I built a wooden desk computer a few years ago and it was fine, but I also put a bunch of fans in it to ensure good airflow. The only intake or exhaust I could see is the PSU fan which might never spin up due to the low power draw of those components. Definitely looks like it's going throttle the cpu, maybe GPU as well.

What a great idea, well done. I ended up building my own case recently also out of wood. Nothing nearly as fancy as that but water cooled. One thing I love about your design is how it has two clear intakes from the outside. I don't think many people realize the catastrophe that these cards that self feed hot air are. You see a lot of comments on Air versus Water and the one big difference is that with water you have the option to send all hot air out of the case. Perhaps that would be food for thought for your next build, a compartmentalized area that allows the GPU to blow all that hotness out and not inside the case. These are actually my thoughts for the next case. Anyway, great build, I hope you're enjoying it.
