This was inspiring, I'm a US veteran living overseas in an Asian country that had many US bases, and so the service members imported/purchased various muscle cars. They were left here after the volcanic eruption and sold as scrap to locals. So, there's some really, amazing and rare cars here. But in 15 years I never saw a Trans Am for sale. As soon is it came up, I jumped on it and bought it from the 82 year old owner who had it twenty years. Before that it was owned by a Korean who got it from the US base. I'm now the proud owner of a 1977 Pontiac Trans Am that is in surprisingly good condition considering this is a 3rd world country without ready access to parts. I'm very excited to get it looking as good as the one in this video. Although, I have to say it's in running condition and newly registered with new paint, interior, etc.

I’m in the middle of the same restoration and I’m only about half way thru this video with my 5 year on it , anybody that critics the slightest part of this video should be ashamed of themselves, the struggle is real and it’s not for the faint . You should be proud of your achievements, hats off to you 😎

Thanks for sharing your experience. The journey is long, but so worth it. My 17 year old son and I started a 1978 Y82 a few months ago. Don't listen to any negative comments. I restored a 1939 Chevy truck two years ago. Part of the rebuild is putting your own personal touch and likes.

My first car was a '77 301 powered firebird! Rotted floor boards along with rot on a fair amount on all the body panels. The exhaust rotted apart and the rear passenger lead spring was pushing up threw the floor board. Living in the Ohio valley these f bodies are rotted and any examples worth having are astronomically expensive but yet I searched every alley, back yard for years. Along the way i passed on an imaculate black n gold 81 because I wasn't a fan of the front n rear nose, even thow they could've been changed. I then purchased a sweet 79 z28. Built , fast and realy too nice but it wasn't what I wanted so after 8 years i found my 78 Firebird T.A. it had custom paint and an earlier 455 with truck mounts of sorts. Unfortunately the car came at a point in my life when I lacked fundamental abilities. Resources for repairs and after 8 years i sold my dream. I have regreted it ever since! Cherish these god knows i will if i ever get another chance! Great job rebuilding this beautiful example!

I watched a vidio yesterday of a 78 with an L.S. and they're great powerhouses but they're restoration had two little tiny things that got to me. I know this is nit picking, and this is just my experience after having owned a 77 firebird and a 78 T.A. but in 77 the dome light was round along with the side view mirror mounts. Where as in 78 the dome was rectangular and so was the side mirror to door mounts. But 5hey had the wrong dome light and it got me to thinking!!! Also I know some of these parts couldn't have been easy to get! When I had mine certain parts were unobtainable. Now after year one stepped into redoing the bandit T.A.s maybe parts are easier but I'm sure you had you difficulties! Looks great!
