The plaid one is gorgeous, so creative how you "fixed" it. I'm not a plaid or warm weather clothing wearer, but I love how you did it. All of them are great. Especially the interlining ones will make them fit better over a top.

What a great save on your wool version, and it’s a gorgeous fabric deserving it. Looks like such a cozy warm pinafore for winter. Love all your versions!

You are indeed a fan of the pinafore dress! The Cleo is on my list when our cool weather hits shortly! I lovee the ric rac on the pockets on the first one! Those pockets on the denim version are so lovely and cozy too! It looks so smart with the bias on the inside.

I think it actually has more character for the plaid not being exactly centred. As if a deliberate design choice! I like this pattern v much too from this video and my daughter would love it.

Hi Mel, such a lovely pattern design and suits you so much 😍. I might have to look into purchasing this one...and I'm a big fan of Helen's Closet designs. I particularly loved your denim version and your topstitching was spot on👌. I didn't notice the matching problem in your last one. What you did to rectify it was great and I'm sure no one would know...only you 😉. Always enjoy your reviews Mel and thanks for sharing your experience with this pattern.... happy sewing 😊😘

Mel, you've really inspired me to make a York pinafore. Thank you so much for sharing. Your check version looks fantastic and no one would ever guess that it was not quite as intended. Brilliant!
@PsychicKathleen6 жыл бұрын
They are all lovely Mel but my favourite is your pink check wool. Such a great example of how a "mistake" can be a serendipity. The placket and buttons give it a style centre point of interest. I think that's the beauty of this pattern - it's like a blank canvas where you can really let your creative juices have full reign which you've demonstrated here so beautifully. They are all really great! I've been continuing to work on my "jumper" project and now have the Claudia finally tweaked enough to make one up in a (hopefully) wearable muslin :) and if that one turns out the way I'm visioning then I'm onto getting out some of those lovely spendy stuff I've been saving for just the right project :)

Lovely choice of fabrics.I don't think you notice the error on the plaid because the pockets are large and a different direction.Brilliant idea to put a false placket and buttons.If you look at rtw they rarely match up and also if a fabric has a pile they'll have that wrong to.It took me ages when buying a lovely dressing gown to find one with the correct pile.As for your pinafore thanks for letting us know but no one else will notice. I think the pink cord would look brilliant with the top and jacket your wearing.I kept looking at them while you were talking .

Thank you, making it now inspired by you in baby cord lined with viscose. First time I've ever lined anything! Not sure about this long neckline. I think next time I'd raise the neckline a bit. How do you get your topstitching so close to the edge of your pocket and still so even?
@HandmadeByDitsyTulip4 жыл бұрын
Thanks Sandra, I move the position of my needle (by changing the stitch width) which really helps with the top stitching
@angiebolton86355 жыл бұрын
Hi Mel love the pinafore, can you talk me through how you lined it please? Do you attach the bias first to just the pinafore and the add the lining before you folded over the bias tape? Thanks
@HandmadeByDitsyTulip5 жыл бұрын
Hi Angie, thankyou ☺️ I interlined the fabric, so cut out in main fabric and lining, places them wrong side to wrong side and hand basted them together all around the edge. I then treated it like it’s one fabric ☺️

Love the plaid with the buttons. There are no mistakes just opportunities! You saw an opportunity and its turned out beautifully! On the pink cord version does the lining help it from sticking to or grabbing tights and riding up?

They are all simply gorgeous, the bright pink my favourite, closely followed by the versatile denim one. Do you know what weight denim you used? I need to order mostly on-line and keep getting my denim purchases wrong.

Thanks Sharon ☺️ the denim was really heavy weight but I’m afraid I don’t have a reference of the actual weight, it felt really stiff before I washed it but then it softened x

A binding sewing foot might help alleviate the need for under stitching bias binding. I do not yet have a bias binding foot, but I have seen it on youtube.

I love them all and what a creative "fix". Please make a video if you do a reversible one. I have read that people have done that using the "burrito technique". I am lost. Also a question, on your interlined versions, did you line the whole dress or just the upper bodice section? Love your videos.
@HandmadeByDitsyTulip6 жыл бұрын
Mary Welling hi Mary thanks so much ☺️ I interlined the whole dress, I basically cut it out in both the main and lining fabric and then hand basted the fabrics together, I then treated them as though they were one piece of fabric x
