In today’s handpan lesson, i share one of the most useful concepts to expand your playing. The lesson starts easy but towards the end is very challenging. How far can you get?

Really great lessons, David. Clear steps, chunked into manageable sections, and I really like having beats counted out above the box for each sequence. The quality of your lessons just keeps getting better and better. I’m a Handpan DoJo user, and it’s awesome that you’re including new stuff on here for everyone. Thanks for the hard work, for making the videos visually appealing, and sharing your expertise. Outstanding!

Wow.... that's phantastic! Very advanced!!! I need to change my brain-function for that!!! I'll probably need three lifetimes to start thinking as needed: in LAYERS... which are played "on top of each other"....instead of a "note after note-line". Thank You David! This is challenging my creativity!!!

This is another great video, I went to look up all the confusing terms, like accents, etc.. So far your videos fit me the best among all other I tried even though I have a different scale 8+1 Do you also happen to have one video explaining all these terms?

Where can I find handpan like the one you use at the end of the video? That’s the kind of melodies I like but I don’t know how to search it. Does it ave any specific name ? I’m new so thanks in advance

Holy cow! That rhythm with the accent notes right after the beat is amazing! I hope to one day be able to play that well. And the tuning on the last one was beautiful. What was that?

Total noob here. I like your enthusiasm but I'd like to see more time spent on the very basics. I'm still waiting on my Aura hand pan and practice on a 3gl. water jug. I have watched a lot of teaching videos. I think the musically inclined don't know how challenging this is to the musically inept. One day...

David, thanks for these exercises, the final Khaligi version is mesmerizing.. At 2:37 the previous phrase ends with a ghost in the notes, but looks like it should be 8 instead? Please correct me if I'm mistaken 🙂

David, thank you so much for these videos. I've watched all of them several times. I'm just about to buy my first handpan and I love that yours has the 9 notes and the Ding. What scale is it, D minor with an additional note? Would you reccomend this scale for a begginer?
@DavidKuckhermann4 жыл бұрын
Hi Luke, The scale of my instrument is D minor or “D Kurd 9”. The notes are D - A Bb C D E F G A C. Yes, I’d recommend it for the first instrument. The scale is very common also on other instruments and and the layout of the notes is straightforward and versatile.

What's confusing to me in the D 8 - - T - - 8 is that the first 8 sounds like the downbeat rather than the D. It will just take some practice, I know.
