Awesome video David, with great practical demos and sweet melodies, love them all. I've been entranced by Eastern/Oriental music for quite a while now, and am realising just how many amazing uneven rhythms they encompass, creating such rich textures, accents and features, way beyond what's possible with the even 4 count. Thanks for inspiration to extend and expand my own range of compositions and timings and see how far down the rabbit hole we can go. . . Blessings. . .

Man, I dig your rhythms... Makes me KNOW that my bizarre grooves COULD potentially work in a handpan. Doesn't change reality, but guess it's good to know and I can at least listen... I have this tendency to start with 1 rhythm and literally rip it completely apart in as many ways as possible and then eventually see if I can find my way back... Something I feel you may be familiar with, even in passing ;) PS you even make the cajon sound good PSS you just helped me figure out what it is that calls to me about these; the sound is so incredibly ancient and yet just as incredibly relevant... Like singing wisdom from thousands of years ago... Can almost picture King David playing one....

@Psalmist374DKR
@Psalmist374DKR 4 жыл бұрын
@@DavidKuckhermann decidedly handpan... Funny you should compare rhythm to a puzzle; it's almost a 3 dimensional game of percussive Tetris to me While the wood to make the cajon would certainly have been widely available, hey we're also quite the metallurgists as well so potentially possible... Look at how complicated the salimbaa of the Philippines is and it was just recently recovered by Caleb Byerly (my friend, brother in Messiah and the luthier who replaced the soundboard of my 14 string lyre/harp). That instrument was ancient too.

David, brother, good to see You in 2020 👁Following your music and lessons since 2012. You look great. And your music and teaching are just amazing... such a great level of self devoting. I am more into Psychedelic trance music (hybrid from psytrance / world). And I play percussion a bit. Was learning on your lessons. And wanna say - one of the best video lessons. And I am also doing tutorials around music production. You are here to expand peoples vibrational structures, to give alternative rhythms. This is a great healing. Natural percussion is our future / ancient technology that we just starting to explore. Sound energy, combined with right mind-set and spiritual awakening will give a big force to those of us who can translate this energy. Have a great day. Man, love your art! You are blessed I am sure. And Nadishana. You both))) I know him. Took a private lesson in Bali. Great person. Great music. You are for me TOP musicians and composers. Bless You and your family. Let the force be with you. P.S. Will be great to make some music together. Let me know if you r keen... dream5talker.com dreamport.bandcamp.com

Musicalement PS : tu peux me répondre en Anglais. Merci d' avance 🙃

Hi David, talking about Rhythm : is there any good book on the topic, like an encyclopedia of some sort ? I would like to experiment with all different sorts of beats (and you videos are absolutely amazing on that point !) and having some kind of a "reference chart" whould be helpfull. Some "rhythms from all around the wordl", classified by family, complexity... Hope you will have the time to drop and answer ! ;)
