I just discovered this track. I'm currently healing from a break up. I love her with everything I have but my mental health, anxiety, depression was too much for her. I drove us apart and the only thing I ever wanted was to hold us together. I overthink constantly. I'm doing it now and I do it all day and night. I beat myself up for the mistakes I made and how I should have seen what I was doing and done something different. I'm 33 and alone now. Needing to fix me but being so depressed that I just dont care to. I am trying but its a constant fight to keep my head above water. The line "I should have held it together for us, when I'm barely together myself" cuts so deep. I keep hoping that things will change, that what we had could come back if I heal. If I improve myself. But it doesnt seem to matter. We both had a connection at first that I had not ever had with anyone else. She felt it too. Though it almost seems like what we had wasnt real sometimes. It was real to me and I could see in her eyes and the things we did and talked about that she felt it too, at least at one point. But maybe it wasnt as real to her as I thought, and that tears me apart. No wonder reality hurts.

The more you think you lost something important, the more you'll beat yourself over it. The reality is she ain't special.

Can we talk about how this song is basically about how the guy is the one doing the breaking up and it’s literally eating him inside to have to be the one to instigate it? From what I gathered, and all this is my interpretation, he’s actively thinking about his significant other and how their relationship isn’t working for him but he also knows and understands in the end they shouldn’t be together and is either having a hard time communicating this to her so she’ll understand or that he also cares about enough that he doesn’t want to hurt her but is having trouble ending it. The very fact there’s a song like this is absolutely wonderful! It represents a demographic of people that aren’t so quick to blame their failing relationship on the other person, or resort to immediate hatred. Granted, all relationships have varying circumstances and differing dynamics, but just this song alone gives me hope that there are indeed more interpretations than what’s popularly broadcasted. Thank you so much Hands Like Houses! I’m excited to discover more of your work!

I honestly think the vocalist needs a new band. His voice is unparalelled at what it does. HLH first album was ground-shattering in the scene, but people who aren't die-hard fans haven't heard of them in years...

Zach Beckwith i agree. But a lot of people don’t like the heavier sounding HLH, like the dissonants album. Which in my opinion was the best just cause of the screams and breakdowns included in some songs
@zachbeckwith4596 жыл бұрын
I loved that album as well for the same exact reasons. Trenton learning how to scream added such a huge dynamic to the band/album. But what they do well is blend heavy music along with slower and more melodic songs. I'm so excited for this record

@SemperFi51506 жыл бұрын
This is the best song since the Unimagine album came out. Hands Like Houses is best when they stay in the realm of hard-pop (if I can take the liberty of calling it that...). They're rock with pop sensibilities. Dissonants wasn't a bad album by any means, but it lacked the greatness present in this song and the Unimagine album because they strove too hard to be a metal band, when it just isn't in their DNA to be one.

Found these guys around the time they released Unimagine. Lyrically this is a huge departure from their previous albums especially compared to Ground Dweller, but the overall sounds leans a bit more pop and remains all HLH, stoked for the new album!!!!

Kill Sscope Same here, man. First song I heard from them was Introduced Species, I think. I also agree with you.
@christiaanhastings77996 жыл бұрын
A close friend of mine introduced me to HLH shortly after Unimagine came out, and I got the chance to see them live. Best show I've ever seen, Trenton knew exactly how to get the crowd going - he even walked on the hands of people in the pit during the closer, Introduced Species. I miss the days of intricate lyrics with deep meaning, but I'm glad they still have their groove. Great people, great band.

@captcorleone26066 жыл бұрын
It has felt like forever since there has been new Hands Like Houses music. :') It is also better than any of the singles from Dissonants. I hope Trenton drops his screams and they drop the unnecessarily low tunings. They were not bad, but they did not fit Hands Like Houses. The band prided themselves on being different in the beginning, then found themselves starting to fall into the same-for lack of a better word-category as other typical bands. This feels a lot more unique and much more on par with Ground Dweller and Unimagine.
@tomochanmusiclife6 жыл бұрын

Trenton actually told me, via twitter mind you, that this album was gonna be like a roller coaster of emotions. A mixture of both. Im loving this song and its a good one to wet our appetite with. I personally wouldnt be mad if this was the only single. I like going into an album fresh.

Drift will be on the new album and was technically the first single released. Definitely got the roller coaster vibe between those two songs by themselves haha.
@bradleywilliams13236 жыл бұрын
theFailQuail Heres the official tracks off the new album. Trenton said himself drift was a stand alone single. With no correlation to the new record. 1. Kingdom Come 2. Monster 3. Sick 4. Overthinking 5. Through Glass 6. Half-hearted 7. No Man's Land 8. Black 9. Tilt 10. Bad Dream Great song just probably didn't fit the style of album they have made.
