I tested the CTS-V a few years ago and I have hand it to the team for pulling together a great performance package. The V series Lyriq looks great and it’s nice to see Cadillac bring the performance package to the EV line-up. It looks like they have done an amazing job providing track handling performance despite the size and weight of an SUV. I’d love to drive it, but I also want to see Caddy do an EV V-series coupe, even if it’s a limited production car.

Oh snap! We test drove a Lyriq and the one thing that turned us off was the suspension was too floaty and when the car stopped it would rock back and forth. I wonder if the tweaked suspension on the V would remedy that overly floaty feeling. I'm excited to find out - another test drive is in our future! 😁

Kim, you should include in your news that Tesla is now offering the Model S/X round steering wheel retrofit for those who have the yoke "wheel". The price is still $700 installed, and it includes the center horn that is on 2024-2025 models. It also includes nice stitching and a camera button on the wheel where the horn button had been. They came to my house and installed it this past Thursday and I love it.

In part because MX is a full size SUV and not a midsize. Price wise would make sense but tbh Tesla Y isn’t a good comparison for the Lyriq -V, it is a far better comparison for the Lyriq.

I cross shopped the Lyriq before picking up my new base X 5-seater in late 2023. Loved the ride quality and fit and finish, but it was missing the performance until now. Will be looking at this option again down the road for sure! Base Model X is 3.8s 0-60, low 11s 1/4 mile at a 5200lb curb weight.

Does it have the pedestrian warning sound when going under 35 mph like the regular Lyriq? I test drove both the Lyriq and Model X, and opted for the Model X because I couldn’t get used to the sound the Lyriq made at low speeds.

Yes, all EVs have to make a sound under 20 MPH as it is law. However being a V it might have a unique sound for it.

@@Nebula1701I only hear it on my Telsa when going in reverse. If there’s a sound we going forward, the driver can’t hear it. When I drive the Lyriq a few times it was audible to the driver all the time under those speeds.

Nice review..decent EV, but GM just purchase your motors from Lucid, especially when they release their Atlas drive unit. And sorry, Lucid's Gravity takes out everything in this segment, and that's without their performance trim model yet. Not a bad looking front though on Cadillac's part.

people seem to confuse internet coverage with sales. Lucid has great tech- they barely sell any cars. The gravity will no doubt be impressive- but its not going to be more than a niche product. Outside of moneyed EV fanatics Lucid has no brand awareness and isn't even on the radar for most people who can afford one.

These "Premium" brands need to get onboard with competitive specs. They always have slow DC charging, no NACS, port in the wrong location and less range but with a massive battery. It would be one thing if they were cheaper but they are far pricier. There just isn't any reason really to buy them

GM has the fastest charging rates in the industry? Tfl covered this with the Hummer EV at an EV go DC fast charger. It recorded the highest current rate they have ever tested.

Almost every car maker agreed to move towards a uniform charging type, called the NACS. This is the same type of charger that the Tesla uses natively. This allows the Lyriq-V among others to all use Tesla Superchargers which are the worlds most prevalent chargers. The adapter is still required to use the NACS on this V model but will not be in next year's builds.

hence the tesla falling marketshare? have you ever considered that dcfc isnt the most important thing to most buyers who charge at home? I know, its a crazy concept. And most tesla's charge 10 minutes faster than this (or less) to 80% so its laughable that you think that represents a quantum leap in fast charging. Do you realize that peak speeds mean less than sustained charging speeds? Tesla has some of the worst charging curves in the business which is why a hyundai can charge faster than a model 3 on a supercharger in spite of being crippled due to 800v/400v conversion.

I do tend to prefer Tesla for the road feel as the Lyriq has the typical luxury floating feel (test drove the Lyriq Sport), but I can’t argue with the Lyriq interior or the massaging seats.

0 to 60 is a number that really is not as important to me vs build quality, road handling, road comfort and range between "fill ups". They need to get back on build quality to where they were in the early 60s when the cars were meticulous inside and out and at the same time have them as close to as the 2025s efficiency as they can be.

I am done with Tesla because “reasons” (rhymes with tusk), Lyriq was high on my list, but no CarPlay and no NACS no sale for me. Add in GM’s stupid idea to charge a subscription for their in-car entertainment system for it to useful (with no guarantee that software updates will offered and not charged for), no GM is now on my list.

@ In 2023 GM announced they are removing CarPlay and Android Auto from their vehicles. This was again backed up by the head of their software group, Baris Cetinok, in November 2024. The 2025 Lyriq still has it, but the 2026 models - which the Lyriq V is - should not. Could this change…sure. But as of November 2024 this was still the plan.

Ok Kim… please be authentic and admit ANY in kind compensation, expenses paid, or any payments/stock/options/advertising by GM or indirectly from their affiliates. Many other content creators are getting hidden monies like Congress ppl. Also, this vehicle COGs are 2.4X its price. Great for handful of buyers. However, not sustainable. Also, Tesla is faster, lighter, and will continue to sell 100x quantities of their performance model than Cadillac. Tesla make great net margins on every model including performance models. All this hype is WORSE than the darkest days of hacks at car magazines who lied through their teeth to get financial benefit corporate and personal.

What a useless upgrade to the Lyriq. No one buying a SUV cares whether your vehicle goes 0-60 in 3,4,5,6 seconds. We want a comfortable luxurious quiet interior. State of the art electronics and a range of at least 450 to 500 miles and less than 30 min charge time. Hey GM and all you EV manufacturers. Stop just adding power and speed. That’s just overkill especially on a vehicle like this. Spend your money on adding what we need. More range and quicker charging times.
