Many many people sir. We Chinese always are cautious that if we show incompetence, we will lose the job and there are always plenty of capable engineers around to replace. There is no such thing like unemployment insurance. 😂 So this enthusiasm is actually really unhealthy, only works for China as a corrupted major country.

i feel like our body are used left and right motion, and acceleration in cars, whereas harsh breaking is less common in day-to-day driving. So when a car decelerates on its own without human command our body is not used to that. Kinda similar to why 24FPS is enough for watching movies but nowhere near enough for playing games. For machines to behave in an unexpected way without command to buffer human brain reception is a very alien feeling.

I was just watching someone put a Tesla through a test with cardboard boxes and he quickly found how that Tesla's system doesn't work well with low lying objects. To the extent that the car wouldn't even stop. I concluded that Autopilot isn't ready and human drivers are still very relevant. After watching this, now I'm not so sure. It literally avoided two accidents.
@tren1332 жыл бұрын
Well this P5 has a load of sensors, including those 2 low lying highly sophisticated lidar units. Tesla first removed radar and is now in the process of removing ultrasonic too, which means new Teslas will be guided by cameras only. Their claim is that humans can drive a car with "cameras" only (our eyes), and therefore with enough AI software packed into their cars, Teslas will one day drive equally well with camera only tech. We shall see I guess.
@enigmatum2 жыл бұрын
What tren133 said. This is a strong argument against vision only. The fact that NGP uses multiple sensor types and works well.
@tren1332 жыл бұрын
@@enigmatum The most hilarious part is Tesla will still charge you another $6000 for "enhanced autopilot" even though the new cars with no ultrasonic sensors can no longer do autopark and summon. Why should you still pay them 6000 bucks for functionality that has been taken away you ask? Well Tesla says those features will be added back one day when their vision only system learns to parallel park a car just like every human can easily parallel park with eyes only! Just give them the money now and wait for it patiently. Just like some Model S owner paid for "FSD" in 2016 and has been dutifully beta testing the feature for Tesla for the past 6 years and waiting for it to exit beta...

One issue is the unpredictable behaviour of human drivers and riders. Policy teams in Europe are considering implementing self driving in certain zones and limiting entry to vehicles with approved self driving technology. Those zones could expand over time. That approach might make sense. 🤔
@PS-3832 жыл бұрын
Very impressive. If it can handle the complexities of a major city in China, it should be able to handle driving on highways in countries with well developed road infrastructure. I think it makes more sense for such a system to be used for boring long distance highway commutes (day and night) with the well rested human taking over once the vehicle reaches the city.

You could probably have like a QR code or something on the back of learner driver cars that a self driving system could read and know to take them extra carefully/attempt to avoid. Working out how to navigate crashes or broken down cars is something the system is going to have to work out how to do though.

EJFJ Positive Contextualisation should be there, and detect through MediSecure International PSC database, or from car signal, that the driver is unsure, and needs help... The most accurate car should give positive instructions on how to driver better and escape from any bad situation, while all drivers can learn how automatic driving systems manage in such situation, allowing to act more fluently in next similar situations... But this is blocked since 1993, avec if Lidars came from Medical Pack, which was at the origin of any autonomous system to spare any sort of little damage, to spare most of problems in human lives, and allowing hospital doing things prevently and study what could be improved or better treated... Anything in the Universe is connected, so let's make positive connections, with EJFJ Cumulative Cleverness, and spare fake and wasteful partial IA that Microsoft Corporation, IBM and Oracle finally parodied, but unconveniently as not understanding things as they really are, by not taking effectively in account the situation of the driver according to what he did up to now, and what he really needs... EJFJ Positive Communication needs to be warrantied, Xpeng is quite realizing Time Pad Scheduler now...

I understood by seeing this video, after having seen many others, that the little screen bottom right which stopped working, was generated afterwards from daten sent by the car. They are improving the system, adding improvements for learner driver, accidents, the EJFJ Positive Contextualisation and EJFJ Positive Contextualisation will allow to announce through wifi signal (3G or 4G or 5G) that the cars/trucks are blocked there and not able to move, so the Xpeng P5 can drive normally beside this obstacle... The time requested to arrange a strange situation needs to be announced, and cars should spare good informations all together, sparing any misunderstanding or risk to any driver...

Wouldn't a roof mounted system make more sense, if it's augmented by cheaper sensors in the front? Do you really need high precision right in front of the car?
@enigmatum2 жыл бұрын
They use a high impact strength glass to protect it. They said even bumps with other cars would damage it very rarely. The rooftop lidar doesn’t cover 180 degrees. NIO’s only cover 120. And the front of car blocks line of sight for low lying objects.

If you search for the robotaxi test XPeng just passed, one of the gifs shows a scenario that the roof lidar would have extreme difficulty with.

@@jeffufcfanaticrosenberg BYD fundamentals is very strong. So their crash is the baseline for the macro effect of Xi consolidating power. The West fears China turning more communist. To be fair, if Xi wants to turn more communist, not much can stop him. However, it’s an overreaction. Xi’s lieutenants came from high growth areas and oversaw tremendous development tech and private enterprise growth. Zero-CoVid is a weight for some months still. The Chinese will either get used to it, and it won’t affect demand. Or they can’t maintain it, and it’ll be loosened. NIO’s demand is down. XPeng is more so. NIO should recover by end of Q4. XPeng Q2 2023. XPeng is holding up despite atrocious sales because of their tech. Leading the robotaxi race can bring hundreds of billions of valuation by 2026.

Guangzhou/Foshan is a good place to test the self driving systems, it's a mega city area that has old and new road designs, bridges, tunnels, roundabouts, etc. I did some dash cam videos there for an autopilot developer 4-5 years ago and learned quite quickly how enormous task self driving system is. Using super accurate maps, lidars, cameras and sensors is not enough, you really need AI to be able to drive everywhere, and still the traffic environment has to be standardized. Without AI you can probably get it 99% right but not to 99,9999% which is required. That autopilot developer got bought out or something, the contact person told me in the end they know now what the limits are and will concentrate on a mini bus service that is running a set route.

Not AI, but EJFJ Cumulative Cleverness, understanding things as they are, which need to be humanop-normed, equiped with few well arranged lanthanid atoms to allow distance reading of all objects and detect what is possible and what is not... EJFJ Positive Contextualisation based on this, is the only applicable thing, but the Xpeng quite realized this, they just miss accurate informations from old and badly used vehicles, who do not announce well what they can do and what they need from the Xpeng to escape from any sort of danger, and follow their own road... Each vehicle need to benefit of the most secure and most effective driveway...
