Its so cathartic to see someone get as angry as me 😂 also that song you loved by the trashcan Sinatras, i had the pleasure of meeting the singer recently at an intimate gig, fantastic band. Also the song playing at the rugby match, go or go ahead by rufus wainwright is the song i was listening to the night i came out to my mum and dad. Who knew a gay power ballad could be a thing? So glad you enjoyed this - loved your very visceral reaction - and I love the way this films shows us there's multiple different ways of being queer and regardless of sexuality, how important friendship is. There's so few queer films that focus on queer friendships as opposed to queer relationships, which makes this even more outstanding in my opinion. Given you enjoyed this, I definitely recommend another queer Irish film (also staring Fionn O'Shea) called DATING AMBER. I know others have also recommended PRIDE, and if you haven't seen it, GOD'S OWN COUNTRY is superb - and pushes back powerfully against some of the more depressing queer tropes of gay cinema historically.

have you seen "Pride" (2014) - Andrew Scott is in that. Gay Film set during the 1984 Miners' Strike. Inspiring, heartwarming pro-Gay movie. Also has Bill Nighy and Imelda Staunton and Dominic West.

Random trivia: the ska song at the start is a famous one. It’s an arrangement of the also famous jazz song ‘Take Five’ called ‘The Russians are Coming’ by Val Bennett. It was used as the theme song for the quirky British documentary series ‘The Secret Life of Machines’, which in my head canon adds another layer to that scene :p

I love this film. Conor has always seemed vulnerable. I just wanted people who enjoyed Nick's performance as Henry to find this film. Also Pascal is such a dickhead and the students were lucky to have Mr Sherry to counteract some of the awfulness.

Latter Days, Shelter, and Beautiful Thing are 3 of my favorite gay themed movies. With Halloween coming up next month, why not a gay slasher movie called HELLBENT. It's about a serial killer stalking a group of gay friends thru LA during Halloween.

Glad you liked the movie, Luke. Very different from RWRB, innit ?, Lots of angst, denial, confrontation, bullying, homophobia… Sort of a plebeian, rough Young Royals (Conner+Ned = Wilhelm+Simon). Fionn O’Shea (Ned) is excellent in another queer movie (a sweet one this time): *Dating Amber* - also set in Ireland. Much recommended. And if you’re still into queer Irish films, I heartily recommend *Philomena* with Judy Dench. That one tugs at the heartstrings, but I’m sure you have the chops for it.
