This conversation really hit home for me. My wife & I are both chronically ill, & seniors, without friends. Not having a community to lean on is rough. Our society throws people like us away. We struggle, but we at least have each other & our dog family. I urge listeners to reach out to anyone you know who might be needing help. It’d mean the world to them

DEAR BEAUTIFUL HANDSOME COMMUNITY, I absolutely have been a huge fan of t pod and of each and every one of all your work as well forever, years and years. I'm from LA but live in Mexico and have been a remote Spanish-English Medical Interpreter since even before CoVid and all thru the pandemic... So since then I have been with all types of specialist health care providers, patients and families in US hospitals when it matters most, in all areas and health care situations and of course I love my care work profoundly. However, recently I myself was ill and could not work as I normally do, which often is 10-12 hr days, only half time, to be able to receive my treatment and recovery. It really affected me financially and now basically I am quite behind on my rent and bills... Like I mentioned I live in Mexico so dollars go a long way here and are trying to fund raise 2500 dollars to be able to continue my recuperation, my health care work and get back on track... Tig, May, Fortune, Arnold, anyone here in this wonderful Handsome community who could possibly donate ANY funds at all it could literally save me from losing my apartment, employment, health treatment, electricity, water, gas, everything I have worked so hard and wholeheartedly for... If this speaks to you please let me know here, I will send you my paypal and I will be infinitely grateful for your critically needed help, care and support!... I APPRECIATE YOU DEEPLY, SENDING HANDSOME LVE AND KISS!....

It's so upsetting that material and other needs are often super inaccessible. I get upset about this esp being on social security benefits myself. but people care about this stuff and hopefully people who are involved in grassroots movements and attending city council meetings and organizing, they will show up for others.
@erinwakefield68792 ай бұрын
Just a little unsolicited advice from your friendly neighborhood volunteer: You don't need to start an organization! I promise you, whatever you are thinking of starting, there exists a similar (if not exact) type of foundation in your area and they are desperately trying to reach out to the community. All you need to do is show up at the next event and make yourself "useful". You will meet wonderful, like-minded people and your time, help, and skills will be so appreciated. Keep it Handsome 💚

I am a 2-time cancer survivor and Tig is absolutely spot on with her comments about helping people. For some reason, when you are ill, you feel like a burden and so when people put it on you to reach out when you need help, you don't. (It's a vicious cycle.) Those friends and family that understood that and took that first step of initiating helping instead of putting that on me saved me and I am forever grateful to them! It's hard but so important!

What Tig said about really showing up made me very emotional. I lost both of my parents at 17 and I had a lot of empty promises from family friends, teachers, saying they would be there, but they weren’t. The people who just wanted to be there,…there, especially with a home-cooked meal were the best..oh man, the people who feed me, I was wayyyyy too depressed to eat. And needed company to do so .Everyone told me I was strong and tough, and I’d be okay instead of offering help. Who says that to a child? Tig ❤
