The comparison of the H position against the typical kick-up-to-wall (back to wall) is crucial and a seriously underappreciated discussion. Thanks for addressing this as it really targets a very common area of frustration in progressing into balancing.

Now, I'm not saying that a climber can't teach handstands, BUT WHY IS THIS TUTORIAL BETTER THAN THE DOZENS OF TUTORIALS BY CALISTHENICS ATHLETES? Well sir. And thank you. I feel much more confident about how to keep progressing towards my handstands.

This is probably my third comment on KZbin in 10 years. Been working on handstands for a bit now and I always feel like I'm close but not quite there. Tried your H hold method once, literally once, and was able to hold a handstand for about 6 or 7 seconds today. Fantastic instruction. What a difference it made compared to kicking up against the wall. Thank you sir.

I've never legitimately tried doing a handstand but I know I can't. I work at a gym and I see only a few patrons making it look easy. I want to achieve better core strength, stability, balance and be able to show it off. You've done such a great job with the breakdown im confident that anyone such as myself will be able to perform a good handstand!

How much do you think are skills from headstand transfearable to handstand? Recently I learned headstand (currently I am able to be in the position around 1 min, still a lot of space for improvement), and I want to learn handstand as well. And thanks gor the video, it is great!
@movementforclimbers3 жыл бұрын
To be truthful, headstand ability doesn't transfer well into handstands. They are completely different balance systems (tripod vs bipod) and use different muscles. I'm glad you liked the video, and thank you for your question!

I have been practicing every day for 45 days now. Some days I can balance freely for 3-4 seconds, and some days I can't balance even for 1 second. How do I fix this?
@movementforclimbers4 жыл бұрын
Film yourself. Probably the best advice I can give to anyone who is self-practicing (without a coach). Review your footage and compare it to footage of people who can do the skill you're trying to learn. Find out what you're doing differently and limit it to 1-2 variables. Make those into cues and tell yourself to focus on this one cue for the next several attempts. Once you've practiced enough to instinctively apply the cue, introduce a new variable to work on. Rinse and repeat!
