Already 100 years ago, the Hohner company in the Swabian town of Trossingen made a name for itself as the largest accordion and harmonica factory in the world. And the company still produces instruments that are played all over the world, by hobby musicians as well as professionals. We accompanied the production of the most traditional model from the current harmonica program: The "Marine Band 1896" already bears the year of its origin in its name.
From the punching of the cover with its historical shape to the production of the reeds and the nailing of the reedplates onto the so-called comb, we accompany the complete production process. Even though the production process is mainly industrial, with several thousand pieces being manufactured every day, there is still a great deal of craftsmanship involved.
