We have a couple of these units and we use them in our RV. We winter in our RV in The Great White North (Canada), and we find that they make a significant difference in our bedroom area. We use a Mr. Heater Big Buddy (portable propane) as our primary heating source, but these little electric heaters are worth their weight in gold to us. We have one running constantly (it’s FREEZING here) and keep the other one as a backup. They cost pennies to use, which is nice, and the dry heat offsets the moisture produced by our Mr, Heater Big Buddy, so we couldn’t be happier with our little combo. As concert artists, we’re on the road for about ten months a year, so we’re particular about the quality of everything that keeps us warm and healthy. I’d recommend these little dynamos to anyone. (Our RV/tour bus is 192 sq. ft.) Love and All Good Things, Jesse.🌹

I installed this unit in a small out door house for my cats. The house is only 14 cubic feet and has an always open door way and a smaller "escape hatch" in the back of the house which has a cloth flap door. I used it all winter and the only problem I ever had was it shut off because I didn't set the timer right. Since no cats were using the house at the beginning of this month I kept it turned off. A neighborhood mother cat moved in today with two kittens about 4 weeks old. I've turned it back on and they seem really appreciative. These cats were previously living outside under a nearby porch. Where it was somewhat open to he elements in that gusts of wind might have been "broken down" some and no rain could get them but the temperature undoubtedly was the same under there as outside, sans the wind chill. For my purpose it works great but I don't know how anyone would expect such a small unit to warm even a small room in a house. It might be worth it to heat a little kids play house in the back yard but kids being kids would be opening the doors and even leaving them open. Not to mention I'd never feel 100% safe having this around my kids unless I was there watching everything.

I have just received my handy heater and it stopped working after half a minute !! It won’t start up again. It looks like there’s a short somewhere. I tried to set a different temperature but it doesn’t work at all. If it doesn’t work how am i supposed to see if the timer or shut off works? Would not recommend this product. Bought via Amazon next day delivery, will be returning it today !! Cheap and probably nasty !!

I own this. I don't use the timer feature. When my brother in law would do overnight stays, we would usually get this going 20-30 mins before he went to bed with the door closed. And yeah, maybe it didn't get super hot in the room, but for us you feel it kept the chill off and maybe added a slight bit if warmth. Now that room tends to be colder since it is not completely next to the heater in our mobile home. Unike my bedroom that gets roasting hot. But I so far have no objection to it.

I have it in all my bathrooms i dont use the timers all we do is turn the unit on when were going to shower when you turn it on its in 90 and high it works best in that setting so just turn it on when needed and then turn it off when your done its the only way it warms the small room and only a small room, it does the job for me I've had them for over 2 years now and they still work.

I was going to buy this for my son as he has left home and his little flat isn’t very warm and we have cold winters in the U K🇬🇧 . It was going to be part of his Christmas present. I only came on to google the price and this video came on. I’m really happy I watched this and read lots of comments on this product. It’s totally put me off getting one. Think I’ll put money in a card for him, a bit safer I think. Thankyou for the video 👍

I have one of these for my RV and I use it in the bathroom. Works great for me. I don’t really care if the temp read out is accurate because I’ve gotten used to what temps I want at what time. For example, I set it at 76 when I go to bed (during cold winter nights) and it keeps my bathroom from being a refrigerator when I get up and use the rest room. I set it to 80 when I take a shower and it makes the bathroom nice and toasty. I’m pretty sure the heating element doesn’t get red hot, but there is a LED light in there that makes it look like it’s red hot. I bought this one and a ten dollar version at Walmart on the same day and this one is far better than the ten dollar one. If you need decent heat in a relatively small area, this is a good heater in my opinion. I’ve been living in my RV for six months and it’s gotten down to 20 degrees outside, but my bathroom is nice and warm thanks to this heater. For the rest of my RV I use bigger space heaters (electricity is free with my rent).

I have 3 of these heaters and they work just fine .. the smell is because it was NEW, it eventually goes away .. I love the 12 hour timer and the H and L settings .. even when on high setting the sound is not as loud as a hair / blow dryer .... and it does shut off when it reaches the desired temperature and will resume again when temperature drops !! .. that light that stays on just glows when it turns off but it does not throw off any heat ... when we got down to minus 19 degrees last winter ... these handy heaters were a blessing !! I'm thinking you just happened to get a bad unit or you've not played around with it enough . ( just saying what my experience has been with these Handy Heaters ) I give them 5 stars !!!

The temperature around the heater itself may differ from that of the other side of the room, causing it to shut off before you want it to. Best bet is to set it at the max, then when the room gets to the temp you want you set the digital thermostat. I do the same with my A/C unit in the summer.

set thermostat to the max and let it run. that's the most effective way of using a space heater. when it reached the maximum temperature, then you can start to dial the thermostat down to whatever you want. but let it heat the room first with everything it can give because if you start with like 78 deg, it's internal sensor senses the heat from inside the box, which is quite small.
@cag4923
@cag4923 Жыл бұрын
The heater is made very cheap. If I set for any hour and it goes off in about 15 minutes. If I just turn on, it lasts longer but, it doesn't heat a 72 sq ft bathroom. Buy a small (8"x5"x7") Polaris. It has been heating a 12'x12' room, all night, for more than 3yrs.

@Vantarmy
@Vantarmy Жыл бұрын
The red light you see is just a red led. Some "fake" heaters have only the led, which gets hot and a fan blows the hot air around that led out. While the "keramic" inside does nothing, just fake components. But it's not with all models. I use mine in a 14m2 room, high speed, highest temperature (I see you pressing the minus button, so that will take longer time...), I put it on max, so it will use the full 400 watt. Within 3 hours, the room is cozy warm. I set the timer on 3 hours and it does the job just right. Maybe if you put it on a timer too, it might neglect the auto shutoff. After the 3 hours, I set it for another 3 hours, but it only will remain the temperature at around 20, maybe 21 degrees Celsius. Kinda de max temperature for a room as big as mine. I guess smaller rooms may get higher temperatures. For the entire evening, 6 hours x 400 watt at a price of 0.73 ct per kwh = 2400watt = 2.4kwh = 1,75 euros is spend to warm up your room of 14m2 for 6 hours. During an energy crisis, if you use this device for 30 days, it would cost you 52.56 euros to heat your room up. Is your room smaller then 14m2, it can get a little warmer. If your room is bigger, well then it's no use. I think 15m2 is the max and 12m2 is recommended. Personally, I prefer the curled up wire instead of the keramic, emits more heat, but it's less safe, as the keramic nowadays are surrounded with heat sinks, the plates are not making any contact with the surrounding plastic which makes it a perfectly safe product. As long the plug can be inserted in the socket without causing any stress or strain and is not blocking the air intake. The front is made of aluminum so that is good. This is out of personal experience, but keep you eyes open for the fake ones. Not all tiny electrical socket heaters are the same. Some are fake, don't get scammed!

I just got one of these at home depot today. It did thermally overload after about 20mins on HH (High) and it didnt turn back on. I'm not sure if I got an updated model or not. Thermostat seems to have a wide range for like, turning back on. Say it's set to 72. It might shut off at 70-71. And seems to need a higher temp drop to turn back on, as I have to raise it 2 or 3 degrees to get it to turn back on, on LOW. On high. When it reached temp the whole thing turns off and I couldnt get it back on. Was thinking about modifying it and yanking and looping thermostat. While trying to keep thermal OL on it. Many heaters come factory that do this WITHOUT the thermal. So if it can keep thermal runaway protection then it would be fine I would rec people just buy a normal little black comfort zone 750/1500 heater with a good thermostat for same price. They always work and work well. In that case, if I did mod the thermometer.. its use would be limited to super cool nights/days. Just like we are coming into in the next week. And I'm from N TX

It doesn't matter what period of the year it is, it's supposed to HEAT and, if it doesn't then it's against Trade Description Acts of most countries. It it's winter and you've already heated up your rooms you may want to raise it a few degrees in one room rather than put the full Central Heating on so in your Analogy the unit should think it's Summer and do the correct action however, it doesn't.

This is a "personal" space heater so it's use is highly "proximity" given. It cannot possibly heat a room. It can help an existing heat source of some kind, but it cannot do this on it's own. It works well as a hand warmer when you are in a very cold environment. I just tested that theory. :) It largely is being commented on negatively by those who did not pay much attention in school during science class...

Wow the comments. To be honest with you, My PC is in a room (where I am sat in now) is in a den (small room in the flat where I do all my gaming and TV watching). Basically I'm in this room or in my bedroom asleep. My flat DOESNT have gas central heating and my landlord wont fix my broken night storage heaters, so I have to resort to plug in electric heaters. I have bought so many over the 6yrs of living here. I've got a 425w panel heater that I used to just leave on 24/7, but I cant really afford that. Deffo cannot afford a 1/2kw heater running a few hours every day. I've also got an electric blanket and this "handy heater". The electric blanket costs pennies to run (is only 20w) and is toasty warm in my bed. The 450w "handy heater" is better than the free standing 500w convection heater I also got (It really does heat the room faster, being faster means I can turn it off earlier.) So all I do is heat the "den" room and sleep in my bedroom with the eleccy blanky on. If that cheap, invest in a second eleccy blanky and wrap yourself in it while not sleeping and in front of the TV/PC and do what I do, brave the cold when cooking/using the loo. it doesnt hurt to put on a jacket while cooking for 20 mins if no heating in the kitchen, hell, doing so adds SOME heat to the room while cooking, as for the loo, well thats only a few mins at best unless youre gonna spend hours in there, but doing so means you wont need to turn on the heating at all! OR if that electric blankets are too much (how stringent on money are you?) get a winter rated sleeping bag!!

The thermostat on unit is not a room thermostat, only monitors the unit itself; it's like expecting a hotwater bottle to heat a room. It just puts out heat; probably not a good idea in a wet area or steamy bathroom.

I believe the heater is 300 watts. There is no way that it will have the btu output that a standard 1500 watt heater has. I have a 150 12 volt heater that plugs into the cigarette lighter in the car.It barely does anything. Watts are always watts. You cant get a lot of heat out of a low wattage device. A 1500 watt heater will heat the bathroom 5 times faster than a 300 watt. Assuming you don't have losses. Smaller is not necessarily more efficient.

My mom just bought me this plug in wall space heater. I had it on 70 w/ a 1hour shut off but after ten minutes it shut off so I turned it up one degree. I don't feel a difference in the room. And its a small bed room

I purchased two of these after seeing a commercial and they are very disappointing, a very small secondary bathroom will not warm up with one of these, about the only useful space is right next to me in my game room.

Noticed a another version/ brand of this at Walmart this year for 10 bucks. I had one of these back when they first came out... It was horrible.. The thermostat didn't work at all, it just ran all the time.

I will add to my comments below, that electric radiant heaters (the kind that "glow and throw" the heat to your body) are something I like if I'm in a chair or confined area, like my kitchen, because they reflect (throw) the heat in my direction, so are more "efficient" in that respect. Don't believe all the advertising balony about "copper, quartz, will heat X000 square feet, infrared, Amish built, maintains natural humidity, etc, etc." You pay for electricity by the watt, and all electric resistance heaters produce 4.3 BTUs per watt.

This space heater doesn't work because of its low wattage. A room will lose heat through poorly insulated walls and air exchange, depending of the size of a room you need a minimum of heating capacity. This little device only has around 400 W, it will never be able to heat up any habitable sized room, since the losses will be greater than the gains. It is comparable to heating your room with 8 candles... The company advertises it as 'energy saving', which is complete BS. Heat is the lowest form of energy, meaning the amount of heat energy this device puts out is the same it uses as electric energy. You will feel the heat only a few feet away from it, any further the warm air will be cancelled out by the cold air. You want to get a little warm by siting right in front this thing? Okay. Use it to heat up your living room? Nope.

it's next to a wall, heat is radiation so it'll sit in the wall and radiate off the wall raising the tempature of the area tricking the thermometer into thinking it's really hot. I have a space heater that shuts down when it gets hot and I found that it like this is likely tricked by these similar circumstances.

Here in Finland they sell this for 69.95 e + shipping 9.95 e = 79.90 euro which makes abt 95 USD! As an electrician I know that this is pure s**t. On TV ad it is completely silent but as I was expecting, the small fan makes huge noise. And you shoud try to sleep in that noise.

Listen, people, electric space heaters produce 4.3 BTUs of heat per watt, and they are ALL 100% efficient at doing it, period. A little 400 watt heater like this puts out only 1720 BTUs. 1500 watt heaters put out nearly 4 times that amount. Don't expect much from this little thing. You can buy a 1500 watt ceramic heater at WalMart for about $20. A $400 120 volt electric space heater puts out NO more heat than the $20 heater -- they are total ripoffs!

For accuracy, The thermometer in any room should be located far away from the heat source. This is why a properly installed furnace thermostat is as far as possible from a heat register.
