Ford Fiesta Mk6 Solving Liftgate Opening Problems-Part 2

Sometimes liftgate release switch on the console was not operating properly. As posted at part-1 video after long research and test efforts I found out that problem was related to the driver door switch mechanism and the electric signals generated by this mechanism. If you are having same problem open and close the door lock by pushing and pulling the driver door handle as seen at the video, this might solve your problem.

replaced the solenoid, worked great and then one day it didnt open from the dashboard button. remembered your video. worked. ;) must be something with the voltage of old cables. locking and unlocking I guess gives it some power flow.

Cant wait to try it. This is what I have: It always opens with the remote, but it doesn't with the switch on the dashboard, it doesn't make any sound. But it works from time to time.

It worked. I thinks its something about the logic. I doesnt work by design when you are inside the vehicle and you close all doors. Maybe the logic stucks at thinking its closed, and closing and opening the doors 3 times resets it. But thank you, I was already about to take some measurements myself, or change the button, saved me a lot of time.

The symptoms are same. What I discovered is a temporary fix, nobody knows the real problem yet! I'm glad it worked for you too!..

I have this problem and problem with the driver door. Driver door lock and unlocks only with the key putting inside it. The buttons on the remote for locking and unlocking works for the other doors only...

It is a simple bad earth normally, an 8mm bolt earth on the left under the rear light. Tighten it and the lock works, but it will not save the remote locking that has other issues. My mirrors ceased to fold for the same ECU matter.

I have the same problem for more than 2 years..when i saw your video pt.2,tried it and everything working perfect,but after a while the problem returned again. Sometimes the dashboard button was working,sometimes not..i was only able to unlock the tail boot only from the key button,until one day it stopped working too. Finally i replaced the solenoid with a new one,but i only can open the tail gate through the key button..problem with the inside button still persists..maybe is this faulty too?

I can open all the doors and lock them with the radio key. Except for the driver's door, I have to mechanically open and close it via the lock. Do you have a wine solution for that?

Does the lock actuator work? An easy way to check is: when ignition turned on, you should be able to lock-unlock doors from inside the car by pushing and pulling driver door lever. If it fails electrical door lock actuator of the door might be broken. Hope this helps!..

You are great! I had the same problem,but after trying your method,the button started working again. I don't know if it's temporary though. Btw,after you fixed it in your car,did the problem appeared again?for how long time it worked?

Thank you for your comment. Problem repeats from time to time but the method I discovered and shared with you in this video works all the time problem happens. Therefore I didn't feel necessary to dismantle the door and the electric switches so far. Best wishes :-)

@@handyguy6273 So it's a temporary solution without a money cost,but it is still a very good solution if it doesn't bother you when appearring again. A few days ago,i've visited a certified automotive electrician to fix that problem,and i just paid about 80 euros for a microchip change inside the electronic board for the door locks,but the problem still remained. I have been told that maybe the release button on the dashboard could cause the failure,and i have to put a new one,but i don't trust him anymore. From your experience,is there any chance i fix it if i take it out from the dashboard and try to clean its contacts with some alcohol?maybe it has some dirty contacts?

If you can open the liftgate by using key fob remotely than liftgate lock mechanism should be fine. The button itself on the dashboard or lack of power coming to button or going to the liftgate lock solenoid when you push the button may cause problem, that's why I'm using a lamp to see if power is coming to the lock solenoid (actuator) and to pinpoint the culprit at the video" solving liftgate opening problems-part-1".

The only way I can open my boot is with the key I've tried locking and unlocking the door and tried resetting my key fob nothing works and it sounds as though there is never enough power to unlock the boot

I would start checking if 12 Volt power is coming to the lock opening solenoid connectors when console button or key fob button is pressed as shown at "part-1" of the video, if power is ther but the solenoid not working it is very likely the culprit, secondly the solenoid might be OK but there might be loose or corroded connectors, to so it is a good practice to check the connectors and cables, there might be problem in cables too, the copper wires inside the cable sometimes get broken by the opening and closing movement of the lift gate mostly at close locations of hinges where they are routed to the body of the car. good luck.. :-)

The dashboard tailgate release button has also stopped on mine. I replaced the tailgate solenoid a year ago when that packed up. Also, my drivers side door does not lock when using the remote although the passenger side locks. I can only lock it by turning the key in the lock. I am thinking the wiring is not so good on my 2003 3 door MK6.

@@creator000 In muy case, tailgate didnt open almost a year ago, i put some oil on the solenoid and perfect. In thid case, when i try to lock all Doors from inside the dont lock, and also the tailgate button is nota working but I tested it and the button is okey. I think its the dirvers Door sensor of centralized lock, but dont know how to replace that sensor or if i need to change the lock of that door, It doesnt happen with the rest of the Doors. So if i want to open the tailgate i need to turn off the car and open It with the button of the key....

Hey I am having exactly the same problem with my fiesta recently. Sometimes that button on the dashboard works but sometimes it just doesn't. I am having big troubles especially while entering the shopping malls' garages. Moreover, my key always works to open the liftgate. have you found something and fix the issue?

Open and close the door lock by pushing and pulling the driver door handle as seen at the video, this might solve your problem temporarily. For a definite solution I didn't have time to work on it yet.

Hi, if you can not open inserting the key and turning, the problem might not be at the electronic components lock mechanism might be jammed or broken.

Abi bende sürücü kapisi anahtarin dügmesinden acilmiyordu. Ardindan icerseki dügmeden bagajda acilmadi. Senin vidyodan sonra her ikiside calisior bagaj arada yinede tutukluk yapiyor. Hangi parcayi degismem lazim lilitsisteminin beyinimi?
