Removing a window regulator on a Mk6 Ford Fiesta ST150. Part 1

Window struggling to close may well be a sign that the cables have frayed. removing the door card and changing the regulator only needs a few tools and is a day job

Thank you for posting this. I've just completed this job on my Daughters Fiesta. Garage quoted £200. Cost £40 for a door card. I agree with you though, those repair kits are not worth the hassle.

If you look just above Paul's finger at approx 9:41 in the vid, you will see a tiny little wedge shaped block protruding from the plastic. This is the stop that prevents the door card from sliding to the left to release it from the three fixings. (these fixings will snap if any attempt is made to pull the card without first overcoming the stop) If you pull the card away at this point slightly, you can get your fingers in and feel this little stop and if you attempt to slide the card to the left you can feel the wedge shaped stop hitting the plastic of the door lock components (which is the other half of the assembly) and preventing the fixings coming apart. It just needs a long implement with a flat end (I bent a long thin screwdriver so it would reach down into that area) to slightly prise away the plastic abutting the stop and the card can just be manipulated off to the left.

Les Jones This is exactly where I am stuck. I can't get inner door card off. 9:41which you refer to is the end time of the video so I don't know which block coming out of the door card your referring to. Having said this,your description is very valuable and I have been searching everywhere for this info. I have taken all the 10mm bolts off the inner door card but flabbergasted as to how to get it completely off. I can do it with my eyes closed for a Honda Civic. I'm going to try again tomorrow using your method to find this block. My driver door wiring loom securing bracket/grommet has come away from the hole in the door metal and catches the window when rolled all the way down causing window/locks and mirrors to be inoperative unless I press the twist connector of the loom at door hinge and hold it. I have temporarily taken off the twist connector at door loom to body as one of the lugs has broken off and due to this, was not pushed fully home to make a good connection. I have taken the plastic circular part which contains the lugs off now and have now secured it with electrical tape. I connected everything back up without the outer door card to check. First time in nearly 3 years it worked without knocking off the electrics but after work today I went to lock the car and can hear the locks click but car does not lock and mirrors don't fold in. I wiggled the circular twist connector at door hinge area few times then it worked but I know this is only temporary and is only going to go again. I have secured the loom with a new grommet through the speaker hole but want to check door lock solenoid aswell before I get a replacement door loom to fix the issue.

Hey ! I found your video very useful and I am glad you made a whole video of this removal. I came to the point where I unscrewed all the 12 nuts but the panel won't move. Do you have any idea why maybe ? My regulator cable are twisted so my windows can't lift up anymore.

Yeh its stuck on the side of the door catch probably ...theres plastic clips, I broke mine which made no difference after, but guessing they can unclip, check out 8:25, it is fiddly, you dont need to pull it out you just need to gain access I used a small torq bit and a small rachet (halfords socket set)

You shouldn't remove the door handle and the bolts holding the lock on the door and it would have all come out without breaking
