Great channel! I've installed two of these in the houses that I've owned. I install them close to the water inlet for the house, post softener, in the basement utility room. I just cut the water line and throw a T in. Then a shutoff valve and run it to the RO system. It's worked great!

That is a masterfully build mounting board. Here is a way to maybe save some time on it. Instead of the Kreg assembled shelf, you could just us 3 pieces of 1x8 held by screws coming thru from the back side of the plywood to create a U-shaped, 3 sided shelf in the lower right corner of the plywood sheet (the self does not have to be as deep as full diameter of the tank, just big enough to support the feet of the tank since the tank will be held by a strap). This will also allow for the total height of the plywood to be reduced down to the height of the filter assy.

Did the $250 include the cost of the filter? Did you supply the fiter and charge the home owner or did the home owner supply it and give to you prior to starting the job? Great work, thanks for the video's.

Great job with your videos! Subscriber for a long time! Question, what are the most called for jobs (by customers) as a handyman that the handyman should be knowledgeable about? How do you prepare if you are not too knowledgeable about the job request? Thanks for the feedback!

@TheHandyman1 I don't have a filtering system but am considering it. Do people ever install just the filter apparatus under the sink for easy access and then put the tank a bit further away in a less convenient place, since it doesn't need to be accessed as often? I am thinking in a corner with unused space under the counter, or below in the crawlspace or basement but out of the way? Is there a reason it has to be close to the filters? Thanks

Handyman : do you have any methods for storing mountain bikes that take up minimal room? We have 4 and they take up almost the entire shed.
@TheHandyman1

A lot of people hang them on the wall in their garage. I have so many that they take up an entire bay of my 2 car garage.

Can it be installed right before the hot water heater so the entire house is filtered?
@Dimka2
@Dimka2 7 ай бұрын
you could install it anywhere, but this system only produceslike like couple gallons an hour, you would have zero water pressure to do anything, they do make whole house ro systems but thoese are lin like 5k to 10k range, usually only makes sense if your water is really bad. these are great for drinking water cooking, and hook up to your fridge for clean ice

What length screws do you use to pocket hole ply? Is that 12mm or 18mm plywood?
@TheHandyman1
@TheHandyman1 11 ай бұрын
It was 3/4 inch plywood. I can't remember the length of the screws. It is specified by the jig.

It could go in a crawl space too. If you don't have one of those either then you would have to try to fit it all in your cabinet space under the sink.

I’ve drank from a faucet and hose since I was born. I’m 49 now and don’t have a third eye or horns. If there was a legitimate need I get it but after seeing numerous studies over the years that faucet water is better than bottled I’m good.

All studies show filtered tap water is the best and healthiest. You get those forever chemicals with tap water.
@larracis

It's probably not enough chemicals in the treated faucet water to do anything noticeable. Unless you drink alot of water. My faucet water has a very chemical taste. Matter of fact we often have alerts to not drink our faucet water in my town.

it all depends on your city water quality, they have some standards but they aren't that good, you can always get your water tested its like 40 bucks and you could figure out if you want filtered water, mind you R.O. water is completely different then your standard carbon filter like fridge or brita, its removes like 95% of minerals if you check most bottled water its just R.O water with some minerals added one of the few benefits of R O water is you almost get no mineral build up when you boil water so your tea kettle or coffee machine stays 100% clean , also you can remove your fridge filter because R.O is 10 times better the fridge filter savings usually equal what a yearly R O filter replacement would be, some people use R.O water for aquariums and plants.. as far as studies vs faucet water vs bottled water its dumb question with too many variables, faucet water where? what city, what water district. what is the bottled water being compared too? what brand? most bottled water is R.O some are imported from "natural springs" depending how you answer these it could be true or complete bs

ppm is some odd way to say it, its mores specific way of testing certain compounds and how many are there parts per million, typically the "TDS" (total disolved solids) it basically says how many other contaminates are there it could be anything from iron, sulfur, whatever minerals toxins etc
