As a union pipefitter i grant Handyman full permission to work on natural gas, steam, water, sprinkler and crack pipe systems.

What're your thoughts on "unions?" All union guys I work with hate them called that... haha 3 piece couplings.

@@TheHandyman1we have union residential guys here in Alaska. I do hvac/plumbing service full time and run my own contracting (handyman) business part time. I see these guys every so often. They make me laugh when they think the “handyman” is telling them about the boiler. Hahaha

So long as the gaming was all original and that stair wasn't added at some point, I'm guessing that the double joist that ran past the chimney, was nailed to it, and the Chimney was acting as the support.

That beam "reduction" is fine with the jack studs on either side of the stairwell.. it is boxed out because stairwells are simply big penetrations

I heard you mention they will be shrinking the mechanical room. Im sure your not doing the mechanical install, but I have watched a lot of videos recently on the tube about homeowners doing this exact thing, and killing their water heaters, furnaces, boilers, etc..... because they aren't accounting for the make up air required for the fuel burning appliances to function properly. I was just curious if you had done the math, or consulted with an HVAC contractor about this? There are many videos out there where homeowners are trying to maximize every sqare foot possible in their finshed basements, and leave so little room for the mechanical their appliances are starving for air and shitting the bed soon. Could you touch on this? Thanks.
@TheHandyman1 Жыл бұрын
I'm doing all the work. I had a guy much smarter then me do all the calculations. A 96 percent furnace is going it. It power draws air from out side and pushes the exhaust outside. No need for enough combustible air. I will go over combustible air in the future videos. I will also talk about air volume and air speed in both the supply runs and the return air.

What’s the difference between a union and a coupler?
@TheHandyman1 Жыл бұрын
with a threaded coupler you can separate the pipe once you screw it together.
